I like these kinds of posts that follow through with comments from beginning to end. This one is better because it has a picture of the problem and of the resolution.

Great job keeping up with this thread and posting results!

Nice job on the fix!

Also had mine repaired today, cut off the old flange and replaced with straight pipe. $65. Couldn't be happier with the result.

Had my muffler flange replaced with a straight pipe today. $100 for labor at Midas. Not sure if they overcharged me... but it does seem like it. I didn't know any independent shops that did muffler in my area, so I just went with it. Hopefully it will hold up, looks good though. Too bad they didn't let me use their $20 coupon on mufflers because they said that was only for parts and not labor...

I have the same problem on my MO. Went to a local shop and they want $75 to cut out the flange and weld in a straight pipe. I checked Midas and they want $80. Gonna check around at other places as I think it can be done for less. I'm in Elizabeth, NJ in case anybody here on the forum knows of any place that can do it cheaper.

And just wanted to also say that I love this forum. Its the best place for MO owners. Everyone is super friendly and helpful.
