Order a 2015 SL with no options/packages - Pacific Sunrise on March 6th. Dealer could not fine any available. Was told production dates would be 15 to 17 weeks.
Why so long ?
Current estimate from dealer is May 13th to June 6th
There are 2 sitting at the local dealership here in town right now. I personally think the color is ghastly and would never consider one in that shade.
Ordered 2015 Plat w/ Tech Pkg late Jan still waiting.....and we are past the window they gave me by a week. Was told it arrived in a port near LA a month ago.
If you order one, it has to be scheduled into production (and there will be other orders in front of you,) go through production, get loaded on a ship, cross the Atlantic, then be transported to the dealership, after which it's prepped for you.
I can't imagine why Nissan can't make that happen within a couple of weeks.
The key is that if there is one in the country that meets your specs - or that you will accept - your dealer can usually call the other dealer and arrange a dealer trade. They trade vehicles, pay each other for the vehicle they're getting, and you get delivery as soon as a driver can make the trip out and back. Mileage incurred on the trade does not reduce your warranty, because it's pre-delivery.
Not many cars are ordered for dealer stock without options. Your best bet is to do a dealer trade and get a vehicle with some options.

Funny my dealer has told me several times its being built in Japan and even told me it came into port near LA. I just looked at the VIN and sure enough it was built in N. America. 3 month wait, hopefully it will arrive next week.
@friday81. I booked mine (Platinum AWD Pacific Sunset) in the first week of April and I've been told it will be ready for pickup either Monday or Tuesday next week. The dealer had told me 'end of May', so I would say the wait is a little less than 2 months.
I'm in CA. From what I understand a union / port dispute may have been the cause of the long wait. The car sat in CA for a long time, 5-6 weeks at least.
@friday81 - I got it from Scarborough Nissan. I don't think any other dealers around had a Orange Platinum on hand, maybe that's why the delay. I just learnt that another friend of mine got a white SV from Agincourt Nissan. since he knew the dealer, he was able to pick it up from Milton in a week.

Well... I'm pumped. I only have 4 days of waiting left to go before I pick it up - 2015 Murano SL AWD Black on Black. Dealer originally told me they could locate in 1 - 1.5 weeks. Turned out to be exactly 4 weeks. Placed the order on May 16 and will pick up June 12th. Wish me luck. First Nissan as well. Always been a Jeep guy up until now. Hope I made the right decision...
Not so pumped any longer! No delivery on Friday and now the dealership tells me they have no idea where the car is. I have the VIN, but they are telling me they can't track it. It was supposed to be en route to the dealership as of last Tuesday, but they never received any indication it had been shipped to them. Another Mirano ordered at the same time did arrive on time. Am I being fed a line here? I may just have to cancel the order rather than keep, getting strung along... Not happy.
Not sure, but he is telling me that he has already delivered some that we ordered after mine. He thinks it might have something to do with the colour popularity (black) and the model (SL AWD) and if there was a switch in what was currently being run on the production line in New Orleans??? He thinks we just ordered it at exactly the wrong time, but still thinks he will hear something any day. Still sounds a little fishy, but he did show me his internal on-line order for it and that it was allocated to me. He also said that usually when he gets this WIP, it's on it's way in a week. Mine has been two weeks now with no word.
Sounds like a usual BS from dealer. AFAIK 3rd generation Muranos are assembled in Canton, MI, not New Orleans. Also, they can't just loose location of your car with specific VIN - especially not for weeks!
I have a Silver with black interior SL AWD with technology package. My dealer also said this was apparently a very popular model and got the last one they had in stock.
Still waiting.... Nobody seems to know where this car is... And the reps are not getting the calls returned when they inquire about it. So, I'm trying to do a new deal on a Platinum coming in this week. Wish me luck!
I'm with you man. The only 2 colors I liked are the white and the orange. Silver and grey are non colors to me and the blue is too close to the grey. When I see a any of those on the road, they look like any other SUV- takes a minute to figure they are 2015 MOs. Not so with the white or the orange. The contrast they provide with the glass panels really brings our the 'floating roof' and makes it immediately recognizable.
I got mine a month ago, and i was told 6-8 weeks but i got it in 4 weeks which i was happy about. I got a gun metallic with black interior, is the technology package a usa thing? I was unaware of any extra packages and the nissan canada website doesn't have any extra options for the SL model.
Edit: I just checked and the SL model in canada includes the sunroof but does not have the icc and predictive front collision, you have to buy the platinum to get those features.
