I know this is going to seem like a trivial issue, but it's starting to drive me crazy because 1) I hate squeaks and 2) it's not all the time so I'm trying to see if anyone else is hearing something similar. It's definitely coming from the actual lower seat cushion and I can make it make the noise by gently bouncing on the seat. But like I said, it doesn't do it all the time. It kind of seems like it's coming from near the console. I've checked to see if anything is rubbing and have moved the seat belt receiver around to make sure that's not it.
The leather seats are rubbing against the center console.
I heard it a few days after delivery, either I just didn't pay attention or something happened but right now I can't be bothered leaving her with the dealership.
I posted about this issue a while back from day one, and it's annoying. I went to the dealer and they stated that they couldn't do anything for me as the seats were unadjustable.
I had the same issue on my other car. Dealer took the seat apart and inserted felt between the leather and the seat controls. That fixed the issue. If it is rubbing against the center console, they can either adjust the console or stick some felt in there as well.
I'm 160lbs and mine has been doing the same thing for a long time. I haven't had the time to take it back to the dealership, it's been driving me crazy though. Where exactly did they put the felt? I'm having a hard time visualizing the location where it should go.
The felt was on another car, the Murano does not have the issue (yet, 300miles on it)
I determined the creaking came from where the power controls touched the leather, so the took the seat out, disassembled it, added felt on the inside and out it back together
Turns out that this is an issue on a few Murano's but not all. My buddy has an SL and the issue doesn't exist. I like the felt idea, not sure on the silicone...but worth a shot if there is no long term affects to the leather.
So I did a little testing after work and don't think it's the leather rubbing on the console. I can put my fingers between the seat and the console and bounce slightly on the seat and still hear the noise at the right side of the seat. It actually seems to be something within the actual lower seat cushion itself. Between this and the wind noise and the road noise from the tires, I'm about a 6 out of 10 on satisfied. This is one of those things extensive QC should have caught, but apparently they either didn't do extensive QC or it didn't appear. Zero gravity seats that are comfortable (and squeak)!
My issue is a little different on my end.... I have the S package with cloth seats and I recently started hearing a squeaking/creaking noise coming from the driver seat. It's got me curious but I've pretty much chucked it up to it being the inner spring or something on the inside of the seat making the noise. I could see where leather would rub the center console..... I typically don't blast the radio. I like a smooth, quiet ride, as I'm sure most of you like me can pick up when things don't sound right with your vehicle. This and another noise has been my observation. It comes from the steering wheel on the left side where there isn't any buttons or controls. It just gets that certain vibration going down the highway at 70 mph. Drives me nuts sometimes!
Any resolution on this? My 2015 SL with 3300 miles on it developed this slowly over the last 500 miles. Now it is pervasive and when I go over a bump it sounds like people doing it on a rusty mattress. I can put my hand down between the seat and the center console and it is still there. Actually, when my hand is down there, I can touch the frame and actually feel the vibration in the frame when the squeak happens. I'm 5' 10' 210lbs, so I assume it can handle my size.
I'm going to monkey around under there this weekend, and then it is off to the dealer if no resolution.
I just got back from my dealer regarding this annoying issue and it does sound like an old metal bed frame that squeaks. The symptom can be heard when I accelerate, make turns and go over bumps. And to clarify, it's not the leather rubbing against the center console, it's the metal frame support of the seat.
So no fix today as my dealership had gotten in contact with Nissan and they're ordering the metal frame assembly itself. I hope it fixes it because the constant squeaking has gotten really annoying.
Please let me know if this works! I have the same problem and it's driving me nuts. I've been to 3 different dealerships. The first 2 couldn't get the noise to happen while they had the car and the 3rd said there was nothing that could be done.
I just returned from the dealership and crossing fingers, the problem was fixed. They ended up replacing the seat bottom because it was deformed. Driving home, the symptom was fixed, no squeaking when turning, accelerating, and going over bumps.
I have 2015 SL and have the same problem. I don’t think it’s a leather rubbing issue. Seems like a seat frame issue. Only solution offered by dealer was to replace the seat frame at an estimated cost of $1,500+. Obviously not a critical issue but does drive me crazy.
What should have been done is the seats should not be vinyl along the side that touches up against any plastic. I've noticed on a few cars that have a similar set up as the Murano (seat controls go overtop of side cusion) that part is a soft material and only the seat cushion top is leather.
It's hard to see in the imagine below because the materials blend so well but the portion that touches the plastic is a soft material.
