You're definitely not alone. I've been looking into this since I bought my 2009 Murano SL.

I found this site: http://www.factoryipod.com/

It seems to suggest their Ipod adapter interface works on some 2009 models.

I've sent the site admin an e-mail asking which models it works on and am waiting for the response. I will post it the answer when I get it.
