Unhappy Pause

Hi I am totally new at this site.
Here is my problem with 2003 murano SL AWD:

Sometimes when I try to accelerate there is a pause from the time I press the gas pedal Untill the rpm reacts to it. When it does it rev up to 3or 4 RPM all of a sudden.
What is the problem?
How much it cost to fix at dealer or private mechanic?
