When I tried to log on, the ad analysis at doubleclick.net hung and shut down access to new posts, etc.
Very annoying!

Yeah weird. It happened when I clicked Active Topics. I just backed out and clicked again and it was fine. Is this connected to the bot posts?

We're slowly banning the bots and cleaning up the posts. It might take some time.

I agree with BillArf, those two events do not appear to be linked.

In addition, the recent "bot issue" may not have been a bot issue at all. All we know is that someone (something) from a single IP Address in Bangalore, India created 5 member accounts and posted spam in a few dozen posts.

All of the spam posts from the recent event were removed and the offending IP address banned using a moderator's tool designed specifically for the task. The entire clean-up took place within the first minute after I logged-in yesterday.

The forum administrator was made aware of the issue. He then worked with the forum's IT group to add a plug-in designed to combat spam.

There will always be a bit of spamming here and there. Hopefully we will not see a recurrence of this magnitude.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to report the spam posts.

Does the site still have the large amount of pop ups? There was updates going on here at Autoguide. Let me know and I will see what they could all be.

I've noticed that whenever there is a Jeep banner ad on the top of the forum, none of the content below loads - in other words, a blank page.
