As far as having multiple threads deleted, many are useful to the forum. However, if you really want to have a thread deleted, contact a moderator directly. Don't use the link you've been using. As it says, every time you have used it, in red... Quote:

Wow Dennis, it doesn't look like you want to be here, so why do you post?

OK, went and read your post above...
Interesting, I had no idea such a thing existed. My apologies for that, and thank you for taking the time to describe the condition and educate me. If I captured your email in the post, my apologies, it was an oversight. I'm also surprised to see your post count has dropped to 8, so you've invested a lot of time removing posts on this site. I can only assume that you're very dissatisfied and I'm sorry that's the case. However to deny all the other users access with no discussion or warning seems to indicate you're pretty mad about something. While I understand your concerns, I don't think that was a fair action to other users. Hopefully this can be discussed. I think you should pick a moderator you feel most comfortable discussing this with or the admin and have a frank conversation with them about it. I don't believe this thread adds any value to the site, so I'd be fine with it's deletion. |

Are you saying that your complaint caused nissanmurano.org domain name to be removed from the zone file, and thus be inaccessible for more than a week?

admin-
I doubt very much you are going to get a response from Dennis Fink. He appeared very upset with jaak and this forum in general. I think he is history. If it was his actions that caused this forum to go off-line for a week then someone (jaak, for initiating the problem and not resolving it sooner; or Dennis for taking drastic action against this forum) owes you and this membership an apology. -njjoe

I'm not sure that I believe that Dennis' alleged actions caused the outage. It would seem to me that a client hold would, at the very least, require notification of the administrator of the website involved before the action was taken and verification of legal action being initiated. Otherwise, what would prevent any other malcontent from taking down any website of his/her choosing?
From what I've seen, Jaak's action was completely unintentional. He's apologized to Dennis, and that's good enough for me. If Dennis did what he stated he did, then his actions were completely reprehensible and immature, IMO. If I were the administrator of this site, I would immediately ban him from posting on the board. I never understood why he was deleting his posts and why he got so upset that his e-mail address was listed in a message. With about 10 minutes and the information he publicly exposed about himself, I was able to find out a bunch of information about him that he probably wouldn't want publicly disclosed, including what I believe to be his SSN. My point is that there's tons of information about all of us available--freely or for a cost--on the internet, and to get so bent out of shape about an e-mail address seems kinda silly to me. I'm not trying to minimize the seriousness of identity theft, but it just seemed like the reaction was out of proportion to the "violation." |

I support jaak on this one as well. While the email release wasn't the best thing to happen, it was clearly unintentional and corrected rather quickly.
If his issue was with jaak, it should have been settled privately, not at the expense of everyone else here on the forum.

Eric,
The problem is that it was not settled quickly. Granted it was an unintentional mistake, but it was a mistake none-the-less. Dennis asked jaak, a moderator, to correct the mistake. Jaak failed to do so. Nothing against jaak, but he never responded to Dennis' request to edit a post that included his business email. If jaak had responded in a timely manner all of this could have been avoided. Jaak was wrong in posting the email address and for not responding to Dennis' request to delete it. Dennis was wrong for over-reacting. And if it turns out his reactions precipitated this forum going down, then he really overreacted and and owes this forum an apology. These are just the opinions of a guy who gets annoyed when other people don't consider the impact their actions have on other people around them. ![]() -njjoe

Dennis did not disturb this site as he suggests. I feel thats just wishful thinking on his part. Perhaps he should post details on just exactly what he thinks he has done. Until I see those details it is pure, 100%, unadulterated, USDA Grade AAAA Choice
.As far as his notifications on deleting his tracks, I fixed every one I got an email on and I fixed them as soon as I got those emails and notified admin and the rest of the mods. I even went to the additional trouble to separate his posts from the rest of the threads to preserve the other posters posts where appropriate. And as soon as I saw the notification about his email addy I took action on that and notified the mods too. When Dennis used that tool it sends an email to ALL mods. In short there is more than one mod on this forum, we do communicate, we are a team and we take action as soon as we can. We go out of our way to do this, it is not fun, we do it because of our dedication to this forum, as a duty to the MO community at large and view it as such. jaaks positive, beneficial support to this forum is a matter of record in his numerous truly informative and helpful posts. We are not perfect and we all saw that post and did not see the error until it was pointed out and action was taken as fast as possible. This was a lesson learned for all of us. We have great mods, we stand by each one of us, and we're not looking for any more or any less. jaak has apologized so no more apologies are needed. Now please, no one else need respond to this post or this thread except for Dennis . If you just have to respond to this thread or this post before he does I welcome PMs. But at this point, all we want to see further on this topic is a post from Dennis with detailed proof of what he claims to have done then and only then will we feel diferently. 'nuff said move on. |
