Default SL Headlight assembly on S !

Hello Folks,

I have a Murano 2007 S. Does anyone know if the headlights from 06/07 SL will fit/work in my truck? Thank you

HIDs were optional on the SL but the specific model is irrelevant. There are only 2 types of headlight on the MO: halogen (reflectors) and HID (projectors). The exterior dimensions of the headlight assemblies are the same, so either type will physically fit. However, the HID assemblies need other components (like ballasts) and some soldering to work. It's a project.

Ok so let me understand this correctly. the lights are gonna fit physically, but I can't just plug them on and twist the switch hoping they will lit up?

That's right, they won't work*. The lighting technologies are completely different. Halogen tech is simply heating up a filament until it's white-hot. HID doesn't have a filament but instead produces an arc of electricity in a tube between two electrodes. To do this it needs a ballast, which produces a blast of electricity to ignite the gas and salts in the tube, then lower, regulated voltage to maintain the arc.

*BUT... This doesn't mean converting to OE HID is impossible. Check out that thread I linked. There are active members, like moderator njjoe, who can help you through the conversion if you're interested.
