Default Nissan World of Denville, Denville, NJ UNBELEIVABLY HORRIBLE

STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER!!!

Nissan World of Denville is probably one of North Jersey's largest dealers in terms of volume and stock, so that's how they attract people. I went there to buy my car because I got a decent deal and they are only a few minutes from my house. But since the deal was done, I've been treated like garbage.

1) After making the deal, I was working with a finance clerk there who first tried to give me a 9% interest rate. After I reminded him about my good credit and so forth, he magically came down to 6.25%. I was told I would receive my coupon book and loan info from Sovereign Bank in the mail in the following weeks. I bought the car in late February, and my first payment was to be due in early April (45 days). By the time April 1st rolled around, I got a little nervous that I hadn't received my loan info yet, so I called the dealer. After about 5 calls, I finally reached somebody who could help me (not the original person I dealt with), and found out that the dealer had switched me from Sovereign to PNC without notice! The rate was the same, so that didn't really bother me, but the problem was, they never contacted me to sign the agreement. I had a first payment due on April 8th and the dealer was completely oblivious to the fact that my loan had never even been processed because they did not notify me of the bank change! They had me mail them the check and they forwarded it to PNC so that my first payment was on time. Oh, I forgot the best part... The way I figured all this out was that I called the dealer to ask about where my loan materials were and they told ME to call Sovereign! So I called Sovereign and they told me "you don't have a loan with us." Wow....

2) I bought the car as a demo. The floor mats and owner's manual were missing. The salesman assured me he would order them both for me. After about a week, I had heard nothing, so I started calling him. After a few days of calls, I realized that he was never going to get me the two items, so I asked him to just pull them out of another Mo. He did this and gave them to me that day. The floor mats were fine, but the owner's manual was missing the warranty and maintenance booklets, as well as the outer zipper case. Now I know I'm being picky with this, but I like my car to be perfect, and I want all the original materials. So I would like the remaining manuals, etc. I have been trying to contact this guy for the past week now, and I can NEVER get a hold of him NOR the sales manager to get this issue resolved.

3) I paid for the window etching, b/c they led me to believe it was all but required. After owning the car for a little while, I realized that it was NEVER DONE. Again, I have been trying to contact them about this, but to no avail. They are impossible to get a hold of. I think after today, I will be calling Nissan's complaint line.

Enough of my rant...just stay away from this place.

Notes (loans) routinely get sold often before any payments are due. My first mortgage was transferred 3 times. If you didn't get a coupon book from PNC prior to your first payment, I wouldn't have been too upset. You would have still owed the money but there would not/Could not have been any late fees. You'll find PNC easier to deal with than Sovereign, at least until they transfer the note...

As far as the other two items go (floormats and etchings). I would never have taken delivery (or written any checks) until the punchlist was completed.

(The salesman "assured you"!!! That's Rich!)

Stay on them like a fly on *&^% until you're satisfied. The squeaky wheel and all....

Good Luck.

Haha, yeah thanks man. I think what really surprised me about the loan issue though was that the dealer never called me in to have me sign the paper work and probably would have taken a long time to realize that their books were not balanced. Also, they did not know themselves what was going on. I spoke to at least three different individuals there who had three different stories for him about which bank I was with, or whom I was to call, etc.

I actually just called the dealer again this morning (I figured I should get them first in thing in the AM), and I asked to speak to a sales manager. He was very rude...I tried to explain to him that I was tired of trying to reach my salesman and that I could not reach a manager last week, and he just cuts me out and says "I answered the phones all last week. Your salesman is here, HANG ON," and puts him on the phone. Now I am supposed to be bringing the car in tomorrow night to get the etching done, and he will be "looking into ordering the manual" for me. What a joke.

I know it's a pain, but stay on 'em!

Other than all that nonsense, how are you enjoying the car?

I tell ya, if the car didn't look so nice (especially from the rear), I don't know how I'd be holding up. It's the good looks, extensive feature list, and SUV functionality that are keeping me hooked on this car. I want to get all these little things fixed so I can really enjoy the car. I think it's a great car overall, even the gas mileage isn't that bad for what it is (I average 20-22).
