i would say my biggest concern is the 5 days a week of cold engine driving solely

i take it to work, back home for lunch then back to work, then back home for end of day, then to any nearby gym and back....all these trips are close to each other, so engine never warms up....but since i live right off the main road, i do have to sometimes hit the gas to merge in a tight spot

that wear and tear has me more worried bout the engine itself than anything else

Pittdoc, that's a legit concern. One answer is to be easy on the throttle whenever possible when it's cold.

Another good answer is also an easy one - as often as possible, drive it long enough that it does get warmed up. Take the long way home or to work. Go for a scenic drive occasionally.

And as long as you're running synthetic oil and changing filters at reasonable intervals, you will minimize the potential for cold engine wear.

Just spitballing ideas. Buy a cheap used car (with good MPG) and use that. May be cheaper than the over milage cost or the buyout. Have to consider insurance too, but since it would be a cheaper car, that you owned outright, would only need basic insurance which can be much cheaper.

My lease was great because I travelled 100% for work. My Murano only left the garage on the weekends for 2 years. It is a 2009, lease up in November of 2012, and it only has 11k miles on it.

Now I commute to an office. So my next car will likely be a purchase.

I think the OP really doesn't want advice or he would have acknowledged Wallybear's points instead of huffing and getting defensive. He'll learn more when he turns it in. I have sold cars and I suspect Wallybear's advice was dead on target.

Of course he doesn't want advice. And the big thing is that if he ACTUALLY had a lease, he'd know what the over mileage charge is, rather than stating that he will pay a "fine." Generally it's 25 cents/mile, so at 10,000 miles he's on the hook for $2500.

So I think the entire post was a ruse.
