Default Headlights on AUTO and Windshield wipers

My SL is 2006. I'm a new owner of this used car. My 1998 Jeep Cherokee used to turn on the headlamps whenever the windshield wipers were turned on IF the headlamp setting was AUTO.

Can the Murano do the same? Is there a setting I can activate? This, and the lack of a 'hot' 12v port are the two features I miss.

Thanks

I doubt it. None of my Nissans have done this. My Ford Explorer does it, and so do a lot of other cars. I think it's another design flaw of the Nissan. I guess in Japan they are not required to use headlights when the wipers are on. It's another one of those annoyances for an otherwise great car.

Others that I have:
The radio goes off when you turn off the ignition.
The 12V outlets go off when you turn off the ignition
No turn signals in the mirrors
And I'm sure there are others.

I know they are minor and weren't a deal breaker for me because I really like the ride, Nissan's 3.5L engine, and the quality of the interior. But on a $40,000 car, you shouldn't be wishing these things were there, because they are there in much cheaper cars.

I'm just curious. Can I ask the reason why you need to turn on the lights when you use windshield wipers ?

State law.

Where I live (New Jersey) you are required to turn on your headlights whenever your windshield wipers are on. The rational is that if the wipers are on it is raining, and if it is raining your visibility is compromised. So with your headlights on other drivers can see you better.

Makes sense to me.

That is a good law and I wonder why it is not so in the US. We seem to have a law for everything else.....

State law here in WV, too. Evidently not so much in Japan.
