hey im thinking of purchasing a used 2007 Murano SE with 72,000km(Canada) for a total of $19,000. It has all the bells and whistles also has the smart key feature, My current ride is a 2005 impala 9c1 aka police package(Im a chevy guy lol) with almost 500,000km and Im hoping the murano could last maybe half of that mileage. Im aware of the cvt transmission problems but is there anything else to lookout for. Is the mileage high? or is the cvt transmission able to handle 200,000km. please let me know and hopefully that will be my new car

U had almost 500,000Km on your Chevy Impala? wow, that is impressive. Muranos are good. I'm sure if you get a well maintained 2007 with warranty and you maintain it as well as you have done your impala, u have a good shot at 200,000km...but I gotta say that Chevy might be stronger than a Murano in general.

Hey I'm in Toronto and bought my '04 a few weeks ago. Probably not a fair comparison but the engine in my MO is from an '07 and apparently had 70,000 km on it at time of purchase (original engine was a smoker). The rest of the car had 192K. Bought it for $9800 tax-in, on the road.

lol yup, I find the km normal but when ever I tell anyone how many km there are on the car people are always surprised. The impala is still running strong but I need to upgrade because I have a kid on the way. Lookin foward to picking up the new mo

There is nothing inherently unreliable about the CVT transmission. Just keep a close eye for leaking seals on the transmission and transfer case. Let it bleed dry and you are in for some expensive repairs. As long as you get both regularly serviced/checked, you will have no problems.

Wow, $19k for a 2007, cars are expensive in Canada. As much as I like my second generation Murano I'm not sure I'd buy a used one with the intention of keeping it well past 100k miles. The CVT would actually be a big concern of mine once the 10yr/120k mile warranty expires since it costs like $4-5k to replace. The reliability statistics aren't great on the rest of the vehicle. You may want to buy a good comprehensive extended warranty while you're feeling out the maintenance costs of the car. If the car ends up being reliable great, keep it past the extended warranty period. If not, cut your losses and sell it.
Let me just be clear that up to 100K miles I don't think the Murano is a bad choice. But when you're talking about keeping a car very long term I wouldn't consider any vehicle that didn't have a stellar reliability record.

we bought the 07 SE as well last year in feb actually, it just reached 145.000KM my friend was a dealer at the time and we got it from an auction, for way less than what they go for everyday, having said that, let me tell you a few things.
Positives: very smooth car, having owned nissans in the past i knew a lot about this engine, which actually is around for a long time and has been on the Wards top 10 engines list every year since 1995 (back then it was a 3.0) this version was around since 2002. its easy to find urself speeding unintentionally, very comfortable, this thing is a beast on long trips, lots of space for us and our kid, no problems as of yet. suspension on the SE shines on the highway... the bad: the wiper and nozzle system is the worst i have even seen, used or even heard of...got snow on the blades? cant raise them above the windshield cause they retract under the hood and so u cant slam them to crack the snow and ice, nozzles spraying too low? not adjustable, you can clean them, and if that doesnt help, how about going to the dealer for a $45 dollar raping, each side, plus tax !!! Se suspension is too rough in the city on stupid broken toronto roads, you feel every bump. the rear door hatch contains special hidden parts that are designed to rattle (so you dont fall asleep i guess - its a "good" thing lol) air filter is really hard to get out and replace. thats about it for me , for now. oh and it eats gas like i drink beer, it wants premium but can survive on regular,,, the cvt is fine you get a transferable warranty thats good for 10 years or 200.000KM so you are fully covered, and for a car that was designed in 2002 and sold in 2003 it still looks better than some SUVs out today..
