Average key fob battery life ?

I bought 2011 MO at Jan.2011 so now it's 14 months old.
I am wondering the average life of key fob battery. I m thinking to buy it in advance to replace when needed.

My Maxima fob was 7 years old when I traded the car and I never replaced the battery. I don't think they need replaced very often. I've had a bunch of Ford fobs and also never replaced a battery.

My Dodge Grand Caravan had no replacement for 10 years but my wife's Toyota Camry lasted only 2.5 years.

No need to keep a spare battery on hand. They do seem to last forever and they don't go all at once when they do go. The distance it works at will get shorter VERY slowly over time so you'll know and have plenty of time to replace it. Our 2001 Bug just had a new battery put in the fob about a month ago and I've never replaced one on any of the 15 or 16 Nissans I've owned...the last being an 05 Quest.

It seems as if my current FOB is dying so I go to try my backup and it's already dead. Bummer!

Anybody know the model # of the batteries we need?

If you pop open the dead fob, you can easily read the battery number off the dead battery. Most drug stores will carry them.

Mine are working and it's an 04.

Have an 02 sentra and just replaced its FOB batteries. That's 11 years and we've owned it since it was brand new!!!

After 142K miles, my MO is history. Now sporting a loaded silver 2012 Ford Edge Limited with 20" wheels.
