Default Does the coolant needle look like it's in the right position?

New guy here. Got my lady an 04 SE with 98k on it. Interior looks pretty much new and I actually like the looks more than the newer models. I'm an Audi guy myself, but I'm really happy with the purchase. Space in the back, reclining rear seats, CVT, good motor, and enough ground clearance to make our weekends in the mountains not as painful as taking my car.

Two questions.

In this pic - does it look like the coolant needle is sitting a bit low? This is where it's always at - cold temps in Breckenridge, or 100+ degrees in Denver. It looks low to me. The thermostat isn't covered under the warranty, but I'm not sure if this is a thermostat stuck open, or if maybe the temp sensor or gauge is bad. The tach needle bounces around like crazy, so a bad gauge doesn't seem out of the question.

The other questions is whether the ambient temp readout is live or not. It only updates when I shut the car off it seems. I pull out of the parking garage and it's reading 75 all the way across Denver, stop, shut it off and flick the ignition back on, bam - now it's 95. Not a big deal, but I always like for things to work as they should.

Thanks, all!

I think the temp gauge looks just fine. As for the ambient temp, they seem a little slow to react at times.

Gauge looks good to me.

My digital temp changes by the degree all the time while I'm driving.
