....a couple months ago, my 2009 Versa with 25k miles on it, and just barely out of bumper-to-bumper warranty; both front armrests covers start peeling back like skin with a horrible sunburn...I call Nissan Consumer Affairs, explain everything to the lady, she contacts my local dealer to verify the problem, and between the two of them, they tell me it is not a known problem and there is nothing they will do for me. I pull the door panels off, literally drill out the plastic weld nuts to remove the armrests from the door panels, hot glue and epoxy everything back together......whoever was on the assembly line that day did one hell of a crappy job. Earlier this week, I order a Nissan OEM bug deflector for my wife's "new to her" 2010 Murano. It comes in, has all the proper part numbers on it with the inspection sticker, dry-fit it onto the hood....of course...not one of the tabs on the deflector comes close to lining up with the moulding clip holes on the hood. Call the online dealer I ordered it from, sure enough, the other ones he has in stock have all different measurements, despite the fact they both have the same part number on them....sending me a new one in exchange for the other.....COME ON NISSAN, CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!!!

The arm rests on older Versas is in fact a known issue. I don't know if they ever did a full TSB on it, but I've replaced or repaired lots of them.
Nissan doesn't make the accessories. They barely make half the parts for the car. The 'OE' bug deflector you got was probably never touched by a nissan employee. This is the state of the industry, and yes, it is kinda sad. It does sometimes amuse me to see who makes some of the parts, though. Titan has a Delphi BCM and Visteon Headlamps. That is GM and Ford, or rather was till they were 'spun-off'. Cracks me up.
