Default Test Drive Acura RDX

I thought I should move this part of the Trade in hunt over here.

NOTE: The RDX is a probably not a direct competitor of the MO IMO.

Disclaimor: This is just my opinion after a short test of an Acura. It took about 15 minutes. You may have a different opinion. Good for you.

Well this is more like it!

This is a very, very good CUV.

But, first things first.

Gawd is that beak ugly!

Takes me back a couple of years….no, further back…..all the way to 2003…….when I found this really great CUV……..with the most bucktoothed front end I had ever seen on anything since Mary Lou McCutchen back in grade school….
Horrid.
But I gathered up my courage and tried the thing.
I bought it……..
The murano was more than a pretty face….
Life is more than buck teeth.

And I suppose life is more than the front end of this Acura……..maybe.
But it is uglier in the flesh than it is in pictures……..

I didn’t like the interior either, tho the one I drove had a dark (charcoal?) interior and I don’t like dark interiors.
Light interiors are available.
That would help. I saw some at the dealer and the overall impression was better.
But.
But if Chevy built a dash like this they would be crucified.
Tell me there is no “double standard”…..
Cheap, cheap, cheap.

So why did I like it?

The performance.
The driving.
Even for a FWD.
It is fast. Much faster than the MO.
And it handles.
And it does all this while only being just a tad “busy” in it’s ride.
It doesn’t feel like a CUV.
Now, it is not as comfy as a Mercedes GLK, but it is more comfy than a CX7 and much, much, more accomplished. (Of course the CX7 is cheaper and may represent the better value….hmmmmnn)

They say the older ones were not refined………this one has some refinement and some sport. A good competitor for BMW IMO (Tho I have never driven the X3).
Again, too much traffic to really wring it out, but did 90, and it is fairly quiet and quite stable, tho not quite in the same category as the germans.
Good brakes. Like the steering. Slightly Refined and quite sporty.
The ride is just a tad wiggly over rough roads, but not bad.
And we don’t have many rough roads……

The RDX was a surprise.
I will have to rethink what I am going to do.
