OK guys, just came back from Seattle, my son disinchanted with his Nissan Frontier Pick-em up truck with crew cab and a whopping 13MPG. He bought it 5-6 weeks back and said he made a mistake. I told him if he is so unhappy, don't keep it, trade now while it is still new with 1200 miles on it.
I asked what are his goals for a car. Some utility, great MPG, as many features he can find, a good price and warranty. We went out and looked at this somehat compact size crossover the Tuscon. I was blown away, it looks a bit like a small Lexus, the LTD model we took has heated leather, heated mirrors and wipers, climate control, blue tooth voice commands, power seat and just about everything else you can want. All for a price of about 24.5K. Sticker was more but that was our drive out price before tax. Very impressive 176 horse mated with seamless 6 speed auto tranny, 18" wheels and 31MPG highway. 5-60 bumper-bumper 10-100K drivetrain warranty. I never would have thought they made such an impressive car. Check the photo link below: http://images.dealerrevs.com/gallery...hp?id=38214232 Bob1

The tucson is a nice little piece of vehicle but if you were impressed by it, take a look at the Kia Sportage which basically shares the same powertrain with the Tucson. With the sportage you get more goodies on top of that such as push start button, heated and cooled driver seat, panoramic sunroof, led and hid headlight (à la Audi) and so on, plus it has a more agressive look than the Tucson and handling is slightly better and that thing is so quiet inside. Hyundai and Kia are on a roll and they're doing what Toyota did many many years ago.

I, err, my son with my input considered the Kia Sportage. I found out Hyundai own Kia or Kia is a lower end division on Hyundia, I never knew that. I was told Hyundai is to Kia as Infiniti is to Nissan. Apparently Hyundai is a bit higher up. I don't think the Kia came or had an option for leather seats but could be wrong. Anyway, I was very impressed especially since yahoo reported yesterday that gas may hit 4 bucks a gallon! UGH.
That 31MPG sounds kinda nice...regular gas to boot. Bob1

Hyundai Tucson is a compact SUV that is nicely proportioned with clean lines and short overhangs front and rear. The first-generation Tucson is Hyundai's entry-level SUV.Second-generation Tucson, arrived for 2010 with sharp exterior styling and a nice interior.Current generation Tuscon is car based Five passenger compact SUV which includes elevated driving position, a flexible cargo area, predictable handling and respectable fuel economy.

I drive an 06 Tucson and couldnt be happier, mine is the lowly 2.0L I4, but its got enough power for me.
My wife bought the 06 in december of 05 and had it since then, we just picked up the 07 Murano since my 99 volvo s80 T6 died and was too much to fix So i stepped into the Tuc (or Tux as i like to call it) and she got the Mo. So coming from a luxury car like a volvo s80 i thought at first i would not like the Hyundai. but honestly, its better on gas and is pleasant to drive. Its not as refined as the murano, but it is a heck of a lot better on gas. The Tucson has been very reliable, with just one recall nothing else went wrong and with proper maintenance i am looking to put a lot more mileage than the current 75000 KM it has now. BTW Hyundai to Kia is like Infinity is to Nissan. Which may not sounds like much, but in Asian countries Hyundai's are considered really good cars

I was too much of a name snob before to consider one. I really thought Kia and Hyundai were less than reliable. I always felt the Japanese and Germans made the cars people wanted. I never thought the Koreans could build a good car. I was wrong, dead wrong. Look at the road today, the Hyundai and Kia brands are all over and the new ones look so much better than almost everyone else out there. They rival the style of the high end brands. Sure they are not as refined as the Lexus and BMW who's looks they rival but they are half the price of the snooty cars. My son said, "they get it", I think he is right. Great looks, great MPG, tons of features and a warranty that make me jealous. No wonder they are flying off the lots.
