Default Testing a grille option...

Here is our '05 Glacier Pearl SL. We have had it a few months now, and its been good so far. I have done a few simple mods, mainly because I've been bored.

-I picked up a used grille and have been experimenting with painting it. Ours was suffering from the peeling/bubbling chrome. I wanted to see what it would look like if it was painted to match the lower bumper color. Let me know what you guys think.

-20% tint on the front windows

-De-badged

-Installed factory Sirius receiver

-LED license plate bulbs and front marker bulbs

Thats it so far. Next on the list is to get a factory hitch and install it. Just need to be in the right place at the right time.

Grille looks good to me. Matching the lower bumper was a good choice and gives you a unique look.

Looks good bro!

How did you peel off the chrome and paint it black with? How does it hold up with rocks and bugs?

I never did like any of the OEM grilles. It was just too much fake chrome for me.

Your solution makes the best of a bad design. I like it.

Looks good! To bad your state requires a front tag, it takes away the stream line look of the front end, but oh well. Nice looking Mo.

The spare grille I got off craigslist only had some missing clearcoat. I just sanded the entire grille down and used self etching primer. Then painted it the color. I haven't clearcoated it yet since I was still testing if I liked the color.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

I like it! Your MO looks very balanced now with the color scheme. Excellent job! Take care!

I like that better than the chrome grille. That particular grille looks HUGE when all chromed out. Much nicer IMO. BTW, for those who like not having a front plate....its coming!

Do you know something that I would like to know? I for one would love not to have to reach under my seat, pull out my license plate holder with plate still attached and explain to the nice officer that an Escalade just ripped it off my bumper while parallel parking, not more than 5 minutes ago and I'm on my way to the Nissan dealer to order a new mounting plate. HONEST! Take care!

Nah, nothing etched in stone. My brother in laws friend worked in CT at the DMV back when they went to a front plate and was told all states would have to add a front plate sometime down the road. Most states require it now so I don't see the rest being too far behind.
