Default Use of Turtle wax ICE clay bar [With pix!]

My gf and I were shoppin around Wal-Mart and I saw a Mothers brand clay bar kit on clearance. Regularly that box goes for around $20 but we found it for $10. Ive used that kit before and the results were great so we decided to grab a box. So we go home and I decided to open the box and the damn clay bar was missing! So we go back to Wal-Mart to see if they another kit with everything inside... no luck. So we just returned it and decided to try out the Turtle wax version of it, and here are the results:

Here's the MO all dirty (its been rainy here in Cali):

The instructions to using this clay bar kit was different from the Mothers brand and the next step stated to just rinse off all the dirt so I just hosed the car down. Then the next step was to apply the liquid clay bar solution all over the car and when I was done with that I just hosed it down again:

After rinsing it the next step was to dry it off and to make sure the car was cool to the touch. So I parked it in the garage while I did the last step which was to use the clay bar lubricant and the clay bar. So I sprayed the lube and rubbed the clay bar all over the MO except for the top area:

The pix dont do the justice cause its REALLY REALLY shiney. Glossy even. Its like the car just got clear coated again! The only thing that sucked was that we forgot to pick up some tire shine for the finishing touch. Oh remember how I mentioned that I didnt apply the clay bar stuff to the top of the MO?! Well after it was all done, I decided to molest the car and rub my fingers all over it, and it was EXTREMELY SMOOTH! Then I rubbed the top and it was ROUGH compared to the rest of the car that was clay barred!!!

Anyways if anyone has any if's about Turtle Wax ICE clay bar kit, Id highly recommend it. It cost us around $20 at Wal-Mart but since we picked up that Mothers kit for $10 all we did was pay the difference.

TY TY Just FYI for anyone who is planning on using the clay bar kits: Make sure you have food after cause you'll probably be a little hungry :P

My gf was worried about how I didnt blur out the street sign but its only the MO club! We've both met a couple of you during that 1 meet we had last year and we had fun getting to know you guys, and no one here really seems to be crazy... Right?!

Oh well, for those crazies out there this is what you'll be saying hi to if you come to our house!

(Sorry for the graphic content of the next picture)

I picked up the Liquid Clay Bar on clearance at Target a couple weeks ago for $3 and change. I figured it was worth a shot for that price - but it will be a while before I get to use it in Minnesota.

I love the 'baggie test' before and after a clay - put your hand in a baggie and rub the surface with your fingers. You'll be amazed... (both before and after)

Thumbs up looks awesome!

I am going to try that stuff. I'm a traditionalist and stick to mild soap and a hard paste wax (Collinite). But your pics speak for themselves so I'll give it a shot! I hope to remember to take before and after pics to and post!

I used to work for various dealerships installing aftermarket alarms/radios etc. and whenever they had used cars come in one of my jobs was to remove any existing aftermarket electronics (alarms, back up cameras, and those sirius radio things only), but not stereo's, speakers, and amps unless someone told me to. I had a bunch of them but this was the only complete system that I've removed.

Since I got my gf the Kenwood KVT-696 I removed that back up camera you see in the pics, and installed one that works in conjunction with that stereo.

Looks great, I would be curious on how long the coating lasts? Shine is nice, having a long lasting shine is even better.

Now that you mention it, it makes me curious to know as well :P

I never really tried to see how long it lasts because I try to wash the cars every 2 weeks.
