Question Is it possible to get under the backseat???

I have 2 kids & thanks to them it's getting to be a mess under there. It appears as though there are hinges along the frontside under the backseats but I cannot figure out how to fold them to get under them.

9yrs-

Welcome to the forum.

The rear seat cushions do not fold forward on my 2005 MO, and I do not believe they do on any other model year.

On my MO, with the seat backs folded down, you can lift up the rear flap and partially reach under the seat from the rear.

Starting at page 114 of the FSM should shed some light on it.

You mean `thanks to the parents' who are letting the kids make that mess under the seat. When we were raising our 2 kids (now we're helping sporadically with the 5 grandkids) the adults made the rules and just didn't allow eating or drinking in the car. It was very simple, the cars stayed clean, and I don't think the kids grew up too neurotic from not being allowed to make a mess of my cars.

I've seen this phenomena in other people's cars, however. To me, there is nothing grosser than that smell of sour milk and spoiled food/candy that wafts through the car from under the seats.

I only allow water and dry snacks like pretzels & goldfish...seems to be a good compromise.

A 1,000 mile trip with the kids in back helps you learn real fast that they need to have SOME stuff back there. Just keep away from chocolate and other stuff that stains.

And Scotch-Guard those fabric seats.

Heh. Rather than being so draconian as to forbid my kids to eat in the car, I taught them the value of being neat, clean and careful. You'd be surprised how well even toddlers can grasp this concept if you have the patience to teach and can also provide the right example.
