Smile Just bought 07 mo!

hi everyone! i just got an 07 white MO today! I live in nyc and with winter right around the corner i want to make sure my MO's paint stays fresh as it is now. It doesnt look like the previous owner cared much about the paint but it is not abused. I would like to preserve the paint job and possibly improve it. any ideas? i have the turtle wax liquid polisher from my previous car, should i use that? i never really waxed my car before but i know its a necessity. thanks in advance!

I am a fan of Zaino. I learned about their products on this forum and used them religiously when the MO was new. It was not the easiest to apply but the results were spectacular. Here is a link to their site: Zaino Store

Lately I have been using Collinite on my Waverunner. I use their marine-grade cleaner and wax but they also offer an excellent line for automotive use. Here is their link: Collinite Wax Products* :: Choice of the Pros :: Auto, Marine and Industrial

what do you think about the simpler wax product like turtle wax and their ice product line. I want something that will give me great results but without the time consuming labor when i have more time like during spring break i'll will do the hours of work to keep my murano crisp throughout summer. any ideas from past experiences?

I swear by clay barring, and this would be especially beneficial for a car that has been somewhat neglected - with lots of road tar and/or other contaminants embedded in the paint. The process looks daunting, but is really super easy and provides amazing results. You will, however, have to throw a coat of wax on after barring. And don't waste your time (or $$) on that Turtle wax liquid clay bar. Just do the real thing.

What kind of clay bar product do you recommend? After clay barring, what kind of wax do you recommend?

How long does the shine last before the next wash? a month?

Thanks

I've used Meguiars and Turtle Wax clay bar kits, and both seem to work equally well. As for wax, I've used many types over the years and couldn't really recommend one over another. Maybe someone else could chime in here.

The length of time any car waxing lasts depend on many things - including the weather conditions your car is exposed to as well as whether you garage your car or not.
