Default Chewing Gum on Floor Mat

Howdy All,

The wife and I made the rounds of a few stores last weekend and I noticed last night that I had transferred some chewing gum to the drivers side floor mat. Anyone know a good way to remove it with minimal fuss?

Thanks,

JimB

Haven't tried this...but it should work...Have heard about ice cubes...this seems it would work faster and less messy.

"Compressed Air. I used Memorex Air Duster brand which contains the common aerosol propellant Difluoroethane (AKA Freon). Just hold the can upside-down and lightly squeeze the trigger letting out a small stream of the freon (you don't need much for this to work). This instantly freezes the gum and turns it extremely brittle. Then I used a credit card to lightly rub back and forth on the gum. The gum is so brittle at this point it breaks up into little pieces even though it is matted and pressed into the carpet.

There are more ideas in this forum:

Goo Gone product found in home depot or hardware by the paint section. Has orangey scent. It should remove that gum.

I had to laugh when I first saw this post yesterday because right above it on the "New Posts" list was a post in the Classifieds section advertising a set of new mats.

Don't want to go there, Joe... probably $500 from the dealer

X2 on freezing. I still had a little left and I "trimmed" the gum off the mat with some scissors. I think goo gone would work as well.

I just pictured him chewing gum in his mouth sitting on a floor mat. Of course, if you have a girlfriend or are married, and she's in the car, "chewing gum" can mean something else entirely!

The ads you see are part of the analysis of the post by "spyware" type programs. They create targeted ads based on a lot of info they collect. This is something we inherited from the new host.
When I am overseas and sign on to the site, the ads come from a server in the region I am in. This take a lot of time as you will notice by watching the box on the lower left as the site loads..
Quite insidious, but it seems to be the price we pay.
