Hey Guys,
I have the 2011 LE, 20 inch wheels and KH3 superblack paint , I am trying to find out exactly what the specs are to care for them properly. Everything I can find says; Aluminum Alloy Wheels. Anyone know if the wheels are clear coated etc ? or any more specific details about them ?, forgive my ignorance , I am hoping to find actual accurate info on what they are , I don't want to guess. Also, any paint experts ? I have the KH3 Superblack, all I can find is that it is: 2S, Solid + Clear coat. But , researching, I could only find info for older model Nissan's that reference NCLC ( New Cross Linking Clear) the documents listed late 90's and early 2000 years Nissan's, probably old info now. Anyone have any understanding of that they can share ? If anyone could give me hard facts on on the current paint specs, I would appreciate it. Again, forgive my ignorance, is it enamel, acrylic , NCLC, how does that affect care procedures? Any factory spec on thickness of solid vs clear and overall ? that would be good to know. To compare to what I have. Also, anyone else notice , there is a ID tag under the hood that states "HARD CLEAR COAT " , My understanding of hard clear coat is that you can not judge one manufacture to the other, it is a dice roll , you just have to find out how your paint reacts. That is only valid for Nissan , and the particuliar factory that put it on . But that must mean something as far as the actual Nissan specs. Anyway, If anyone has any info they could share , I would appreciate it. Thanks for any good info you can share. Thanks |

Can I ask why you want this information? From a detailing standpoint Nissan paint is no different than other new cars. Modern automotive detailing products are all safe for Nissan paint. The wheels are clear coated. Soap and water is best to clean your wheels but wheel cleaners designed to work safely on alloy wheels are fine too.

I guess to me it's about knowing for sure what is what and not guessing, whether it relates to detailing or maintenance etc , I haven't owned my own car for 20 years and I am really getting into knowing everything I can about my Murano, I thought this forum might be a good place to find out. I can't seem to find some of these type of details so far from any Nissan manual or website. Maybe I am just a detail oriented personality. Drives my wife crazy sometimes. But I just enjoy learning , any idea were any specs like these might be listed from the manufacturer ? |

From a true detailing standpoint , yes, test an area and see what works, Like I mentioned I found several things that indicate there is some difference in Nissan paint at least in the past number of years, I can share with any that are interested the documents I have dug up. You never know , it might answer some questions, I thought there might be someone with Nissan history experience hanging around here.
