I just purchased a grey Murano SL NAV. The car has 65 miles. When I touch the paint the feeling is rough more mlike an indoor painted wall. I was expecting to be smooth like glass. Does any body know the reason? should I contact the dealer?
Thanks, Last edited by alex33324; 10-24-2011 at 10:57 AM. Reason: spelling |

If you want to give it a try on your own, just get some clay and clay the car paint
The dealer will maybe wash and buff it, and for sure instill more scratches and swirls in the paint Clay removes embedded contaminants that get instilled in the paint just from sitting or transport. Try it, I did and was pleasantly surprised how it made the paint smooth as glass , then protect it with a sealant |

alex-
Yours is not an uncommon problem. Airborne contaminants will often settle on fresh paint and bond to the surface, causing the paint to feel rough. Many detailing fanatics will use a clay-bar to remove surface contaminants before applying a protective coating (wax or sealant) over their paint. Check out these forum links to learn more about the claybar: Clay Bar ClayBar right away? To wax or not (and how)? -njjoe

I used to sell cars - when a new car has a paint problem, I DO NOT mess with it. I take it straight to the dealer and have them make it right. Anything you do can only complicate the situation and introduce the potential for the dealer to claim that you caused the problem.
Factory paint problems are not that unusual, and it's their job to fix it - up to and including a complete repaint if needed.
