Default Help...Removing Tar from Steering wheel

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a process/product for removing road tar from leather (steering wheel)? I had some on my hands from working with my trailer, and got some of it on the wheel. Not a lot, but enough to notice.
TIA
Glenn

I don't know about road tar but I got rid of a 1 inch pen mark on my steering wheel by using a bit of vaseline (size of the tip of a pen) and rubbing it in but not too much. Took out most of the mark and the rest just disappeared on its own a few days later.

Vaseline is a petrolium product and should work on road tar too,

Perhaps Goo-Gone. Its a citrus product that seems to remove most everything without damage and a lovely scent. HomeDepot and others sell it.

Well, I tried the Vaseline, and it worked. Good as new.
Thanks for the assist.
