Default Clean Engine Compartment

Hi Everyone, just thought I'd pass on this little mod I've used to keep my engine compartment clean. I've done this to all of my cars and not run into any issues.

What I do is add a little strip of weather stripping along the front edge of the hood on the grill and headlights. For the Murano, I did leave an opening for the air vent above the Nissan symbol.

The purpose is to help keep the engine compartment clean. What I have found in the past it that dirt and grime gets into the engine compartment through the space between the hood and grill. By placing the weather stripping along the front edge of the hood on the grill, you prevent dirt from entering though this gap. Now of course it will not stop all dirt from entering the space, but it does significantly reduce the amount. I now only wash out the engine compartment once a year, when I used to do it at least four times a year.

Beng-

If you look under the leading edge of the hood you will see a rubber weatherstrip seal that runs along the leading edge and wraps along the side. When the hood is closed this seal rests on the top of the grille and performs the same function as the foam tape you applied.
