OK, so where can a detailing newbie such as myself find colinite and nxt. I found an online store carrying the colinite products but which one do you guys use?

On another note, I got hit by a rock from a big rig the other day and it nicked my hood. It made a small spot down to the metal. Do you guys recommend touch-up paint to cover that?

My MO is glacier pearl also, BTW.

The colinite is #845. I bought mine here http://www.autogeek.net/collinite.html

If the chip is right down to the metal you might not have another DIY solution than touching up with matching paint. Maybe someone else might have a better idea... anyways, today is day 3 w/ my wax job. The MO got a little dirty, but that stuff just blows right off the paint. Thats protection!! Still shining!!

Go to AutoZone or similar auto shop and ask them. You should be able to pick up one made by Mother's, McMaguire's etc.

What is it? As name says: clay. Special one. It removes small dirt particles from the car without scratching....

Here is a good link to leard about it: clay bar

I just bought my 07 Glacier Pearl, so I only washed it today. I also have an 04 Mazda RX8 in Brilliant black. The only thing I will ever use on it is Zaino. This stuff is AMAZING! The shine is so deep. It's easy to apply and multiple applications are easy and look even better. Check them out at http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
I can't wait to get it on that pearl finish.

How'bout Zymoil? It's done a decent job for mine. But I also have heard great things about Zaino products from friends of mine. I'm thinking about using it or the Colinite. I'll definitively go and buy that Clay Bar after work and spend some time with it, and see the difference before applying Zymoil.

Wink

Been using NXT on my 350Z - Lemans Sunset - for 2 years. Luv it !!!

Besides the paste, it also comes in a spray which I use for touch-up between NXT liquid applications. It's great too.

Resurrecting an ancient thread, I know...

But I've been reading through the detailing tips and decided to purchase the Collinite Insulator Wax. Yesterday I had the MO washed at the local hand wash place (I usually don't let anyone else wash my vehicles, but it was too cold and I opted for the convenience). Yesterday afternoon after it had dried I got all the stuff they missed, and the water spots, with some quick detailer. This morning I Collinited it. I can't say that the results are a ton better than other carnauba wax products I've used, but it sure is smooth and shiny. Also, the Collinite was very easy on and easy off.

One other benefit I noticed: On the roof there was some gooey left over from the protective wrap and I speculated that the Collinite might dissolve it. So I tested on a small spot first - and discovered that it did, indeed, remove the gooey and had no apparent ill effect on the waxing.
