Default Paint code

Does anyone know the paint code for the lower center part of a back bumper. I have few deep scratched from parking in NYC and would like to fix them.
My MO is silver (KY0 I think) but the center part of the bumper is kind of dark platinum. I asked the dealer - he referred me to the door sticker...
Helpless, as usual...

Contact your local body shop; they'll know the code.

The door sticker has the paint code... just take a look. That is all the body shop will do to determine your code.

I looked and only found KY0 long before i asked the dealer, but this is the 95% of the paint on the car,but the bumper has a second tone and that is not KY0.... Am i missing something? Should the sticker have 2 codes?

There is a "TRIM" code adjacent to the color code (mine is "G"), however I am unsure exactly what it refers to.

I still believe your best bet is to contact a body shop.

I did. They offered to repaint the entire bumper but they do not have sell the original paint. I really want to go with NISSAN paint and do not want to repaint the entire bumper because of a few 1-2" long scratches...

Okay, how about this? Trek on over to your local auto parts store, pick up two or three small paint jars that look close to the OEM color, and test them out in an inconspicuous location. Hopefully one will be a close enough match. It may work.

i thought that the two-tone back bumper color is standard and would exist in a OEM touch-up tubes. I looked everywhere, does not seem to be the case. Anyone had this issue??

The best advice so far for this thread. The body shop will know the code.

ok, i'm not 100% but i'm almost sure of this. if your MO is 2004 or lower, then you have the polished pewter painted lower trim so the color code for that is KY2. if your MO is 2005 or newer, then you have the platinum painted lower trim and the color code is K21.

so depending on what year your MO is, one of those two will be a match.

May I offer a suggestion.... don't paint it. It will never match, it will never be like factory. I've learned that over and over again over the years.

Nothing beats factory or lasts as long and remember NOTHING scratches as easily as Nissan paint.

I have a 2005 Platinum SE and the lower trim is the same as the body color, while all other body colors use the dark lower trim which appears to be Platinum as stated before.

that's exactly how i came to my conclusion. the 04 and lower ploshed pewter MO's were all one color and now the 05 and higher platinum murano's are one color. all nissan does is changes the major body color and leaves the bumper outlines the same.

andy- in canada, the SL muranos only have the flat black plastic finish while the SE's are painted the metalic color.

in the states, i'm not sure but i think the s and sl's have the rear bumper painte but not the front and the se's have both the front and rear painted. according to your screen shot, for mo's 04 and younger the paint code is KR2??? i dunno how it's different than the KY2 because the pewter Murano were monotone...

i'll check if this ha changed in the 05 service manual.
