What do you all use to clean the black trim around the windows? Not the rubber, but the black "glossy" pieces that surround the side windows?
I've noticed some discoloration on these areas on my MO... rainbow-ish and sometimes just downright dirty looking even after a good washing. I didn't want to try anything abrasive as I didn't want to scratch it up or ruin the surface. I did try a small test area with some polish and then with some cleaner/wax and a ridiculous amount of black showed up on the applicator pad. I wasn't sure if this was the grime or the surface of the piece, so I stopped. Ideas? |

I have noticed it, too. Especially on the Boss Lady's PT Cruiser. It's oxidation. Hence the black coming off when you polish/wax.
Polish, wax, and/or refinish: the only solution to removing oxidation. |

Does that mean that by polishing/waxing to remove the oxidation I'm going to damage the finish? |

I doubt it... it's a 2004. I would assume any dealer coatings are long gone by now. |
