I did take it apart... Nothing to really play with on the inside to try and fix. the knob is just gone... and it wont sense anything now. When I put it in reverse it beeps once though... so i know it works... just not sensoring.

Too bad. I thought the knob was on a potentiometer or some sort of control that had broken off of the circuit board and could be replaced or soldered back.

Default Back up protection system

I bought a 4-sensor backup protection system from www.reversebackingsystems.com for around $150 and got a local car audio shop to install it for $120. It took him a little while to figure out how the back bumper comes apart (mainly snap-in plugs)The buzzer can be mounted anywhere so I mounted mine on the post behind the back seat. If you use 4 sensors, the 2 middle ones can do not need to be angled, but the 2 outer ones are on more of a curve on the bumper, so order 2 of the sensors with a 15 degree collar. They come in black or gray. Mine is black to match the car. Looks like a factory install. Here are 2 photos. It's hard to even see the sensors!

I was PM'd on the great pictures at the beginning, not showing up in this thread, so I've done a temporary correction to the links.

The pictures are linked from MO Dale's Gallery, but for some reason, the high resolution files come up with dead links. So I've relinked to the lower resolution files for now, and in one case, the thumbnail, as that's all that shows up. (It's pretty obvious which one is the thumbnail!)

I'll follow up with the Admin to resolve the actual problem and then we should be able to restore the full res pics...

Default Odd...

Don't you think its a little odd to mount the led backup display on the dashboard?

If any place would be useful would be on the back door ... the direction you should be looking when backing up.... turning my head forward to look at my dashboard while backing up... is just wrong.

Been trying to find a good unit thats display mounts flat, or even flush so I can mount it on back door, then switching the left & right sensor wiring. (because now the display would be backwards)

And a few units I've been looking at max out at 20 inches away from a object... living in a city, 2 inches away from an object would be more needed.

Anyone know of a flush mount unit?

I think I might end up extending the leds from the unit and mounting them myself on the back door.

Yet another project... just gotta say, parking a mo is a lot easier then parking a pathfinder with the spare tire on the back ...you don't bump bumpers, you crush the other guys hood with the tire ... a very expensive "oops".

I bought an ez parking sensor that you put on the license plate frame. My problem is how to find the connection for the back-up light. How to open the hatch cover? Any technical help will be greatly appreciated.

You did a very nice job! Good work!

Lightbulb Different brand

I've used on my 2005 Pathfinder this brand Link with great success. After about 2 years the display stopped working (replacement is $27.50). Since I bought Murano 4 weeks ago I'll be installing same brand (different color) in it. It is very convenient, the only downside is that yellow bars on the display show movement of the "road" all the time, but you get use to it. it has built in buzzer and distance indication as well. It also shows what sensor is registering obstacle. Biggest advantage is that front two sensors are included and engaged all the time while you driving. Occasional heavy Florida rain triggers them, but in this case I unplug the display from main unit and there is no signalization. Also during towing I do remove the plug to display not to be annoyed by beeps when I back up down the ramp.
