I just remember that the early Saturns DRLs looked to be a full headlight and in the high beam position...meaning the inner pair of bulbs. Used to piss me off to no end! Great info above BTW, thanks...very interesting stuff.

Totally agree, they were annoying as hell. Unless it was bright daylight, they were distracting and blinding. Those Saturns used a 2 bulb system unlike the MO (1 low-beam bulb, 1 high-beam bulb). I don't know why regulation allows up to 7,000 cd for high beam DRLs when every other type must be less than 1/2 that. I think the Saturns were running the highs at near full power. I'd guess the unusually high allowance is an attempt to prevent the high-beam halogens from browning and premature failure-- Under-driven halogens don't heat up the tungsten/halogen bulb gas enough to start the halogen regenerative cycle (tungsten evaporates during incandescent bulb usage. The halogen cycle is a process of re-depositing gaseous tungsten back onto the filament for increased life and consistent brightness over the lifespan). Without the cycle, less light is output because the evaporated tungsten leaves a dark film on the bulb wall, plus the evaporation of tungsten from the filament reduces the filament wire diameter, increasing the resistance and thus (at constant voltage) decreasing the amperes, wattage, lumens, lumens per watt, and color temperature. Anyway I think Saturn took it to the legal limit just because they could. I think manufacturers nowadays try not to blind other drivers even if regulation technically allows it!

I was told by my dealership that if I do a disconnect to put in a different Battery that it would not be just the windows but something to do with the AWD needs to be reset. Hope you guys can clarify this for me om my 2011 LE AWD.
Thanks

Multiple things need to be reset / re-initialized if you go for a significant amount of time with the battery disconnected. If you have the new battery ready, remove the old battery and then immediately install the new you will not have to reprogram/reset/re-initialize.
