Default Wheel Locks key storage for 09?

This probably is a dumb question, but is there a special place in 09 Muranos to store the wheel lock key? My 03 had a special little place for it right inside the box behind the shifter.
So far i stuck it in a hole in the left storage compartment in the cargo area. Is there a better place for it?
Thanks.

I keep mine wrapped in a microfibre towel, next to the jack in the rear storage bin. Doesn't rattle that way. My dealer knows that's where it's stored, even if I forget to tell them when I bring the car in for service. Also, what I did to my key, is to wrap the outside of the barrel in black electrical tape. Besides making them note on my service invoice to be extra careful with the wheels, having the key wrapped cuts down on any nicks to the lug hole openings on the wheels. Hope this helps. Take care!

I keep mine in it's original blister-pack in the same compartment as the jack and lug wrench. That way if someone other than me needs to change a tire they don't have to go hunting around for the key. It is right where it needs to be.

A garbage can makes the perfect storage spot for those keys. Replace the locking lug nut with a regular lug nut then toss the key and locks in the garbage.

If someone wants your wheels those locks really aren't a deterrent and just end up being a big PITA for you when they strip.

The high end thief way to do it:

The smash and grab thief way to do it:

Someone out stealing wheels is already bringing a jack, several sockets, an electric impact wrench and some blocks to drop the car on (since your jack is generally trapped if you drop the car on the rotors). If you're that deep into stealing something you're probably bringing what you need to deal with locking lug nuts too.

Yeah, figured as much.
You would be surprised how many "dumb" or lazy or and low-tech criminals are out there. Some drug addicts, or drunks looking for a quick buck. These wheel locks are better than nothing against those.

My rims/tires are not expensive, so I doubt they would interest any high-tech or professional thief.

The other thing I find kind of funny is that everyone I know with wheel locks stores the lock in their car. I mean, think about that for a minute. Do you keep a key for your ignition in the glovebox or trunk too?

^ Guy from another forum I'm on. Had locks. They broke into the car and used his lug key to remove the wheels. They then took the key and the lug nuts with the rims/tires. lol

If I put locking lug nuts on my car, I'll either chuck the key in a high-tech, official Wal-Mart plastic bag and drop it in one of the rear storage compartments or just drop it in the center console.

If not in the car, then where? What good is keeping the key at home if you end up with a flat away from home?

Yeah, there really isn't a good answer. Just pointing out another reason it's a pretty useless lock.

Not that the MO's OEM wheels are that desirable on the black market, but I figure if it makes a borderline-crook think twice then it is worth it. Nothing will stop a determined professional thief.
