Hi Guys Sorry about the delay but here are the photos. Before you think about attempting any modifications especially on a newer model car have a good think about it first and work out the best way to go about it there is nothing worse than a poor finished job. I am a retired panel beater/spray painter and have made many mods to my cars over the years and if I dont think it will look good when finished I wont do it. Anyway the photos I will post were only taken a few day's ago so only wired straight to battery for the pics I drilled out the bottom rear of the lens with a 3/16 drill then used a Dremel with small cutting bit take your time patience is a must for good finish I cut through the retaining brackets [carefully] to make sure they are still very strong so I could get as many LEDS as possible a few in the middle would look silly cut out to slightly smaller than your flexible LEDs they must be a nice clean tight fit if there any slight highs or lows it will show in the finished job so take your time use a small file and borrow your wifes emery board she uses for her nails when this job if finished inside the lens will be full of bits of plastic and dust the only way to remove this is to wash out under a hard running warm tap sorry [faucet] and let it dry under sun or warm hair dryer make sure all the water is out before you seal or you will get condensation inside next dry fit your lights first just to make sure then get some CA glue [super glue] and a can of accelerator I use professional stuff called mitre fix gently press your LEDs into the gap making sure not to go to far in Mine are level with the top of the gap I made, this positon looks the best now run some CA along the join of lights and lens then give a quick spray of accelerator and the CA will harden straight away to finish the job I put a thin layer of black silicone over the back to black out any light coming in from behind it makes it look more professional well I hope I didn't bore you all but the the more detail you get the better I hope this has been a help Go To It Moerano

They look great as an accessory but they look way too dim compared to the OEM 6 LED units. Nice neat job you did.

I ordered mine straight from Japan and DIY'd the install. Had to modify the wire harness per Red Kiosk's suggestions.
Really bright though. Comes on with the ignition and stays on with lights and fogs. Hardest part is getting the front grille off without breaking any pawls. Now that I'm smart on the wiring, the second time around would be much easier. Happy to help if you're still interested. I'm in North Sydney. |

I guess it's personal preference in the end. The OEM kit is designed to be an integrated look. The high seat position also increases visibility.
That said, yes, they are insanely expensive compared to others. For the Phillips brand, the 4-LED gives you more mounting options. I might suggest horizontally in between the fog light grilles of the bumper or just below the front licence plate carrier. On the outboard sides. You could also try getting cute in between the front grille but I doubt there's enough clearance. Not much else without looking weird or out of place I reckon. |
