Edit:
After a week, one of my ballasts has stopped working. Not sure of the cause. Put stock bulbs back and I will contact DDM after I get back from Thanksgiving trip. After seeing some good reviews off the DDM 5k HID kit, I ordered a set and installed them today. They seem to be drop shipped from mainland China and took 9 days to arrive. The build quality is better than I expected, if it had a Philips or Bosch label on it, I wouldn't be disappointed with the quality. The install went very smooth, despite no instructions and took ~20 mins including having to remove the fender liner/felt cover. Just stare at the ballast and harness for 5 seconds and you should be able to figure it out. The is no easy way to secure the ballast; holes or grommets on the ballast would have helped. I secured mine to a fender brace behind the felt like cover with 3M 300lb double sided tape and a zip tie. I used heat wrap to tie and secure the extra wire. For $50 I am very impressed. Output is great. Only one complaint. There is a wire that runs the length of the exterior of the bulb that casts a shadow just in front of the car on the driver side. The passenger side bulb, the wire points up when the bulb is twisted in and a shadow isn't cast on the ground. There is no way to avoid this I can see since the bulb must be inserted a certain way. I have an E320 Blutec with HID and the light is just as good with this $50 kit! pardon the dirty headlight:

Looks Great. I just ordered one and still waiting. I was thinking about the Fog lights HID up grade. Also what about the blank LED area in the grill. Can we do anything with that?
How is the cut off of the HID? Is it still the same as it was before with the other bulbs? Thanks. Enjoy!!

Got the same kit, same shipping, same quality appearance. Only problem I had was that the work space in a 2009 MO's fender is so small that I couldn't get my hand in position to create enough torque to reassemble the unit with the new HID unit in place. Once I gave up it took me 45 minutes just to get the OEM bulb back in place. No, I'm not a moron (as far as you know) I just couldn't work in such a small space.
I'm sure it's a great setup but if you've got big paws (like me) you might need to remove the grille and headlight assembly to make it work. FYI. |
