Hi everyone,
been around for a while, have done much reading and have enjoyed my stay here so far. I am a car enthusiast and figured my moms murano could use a little more kick and personality. I personally drive a mazdaspeed 3 and am not your average 16 year old wanting to modify mommy and daddys car However I have seen these ebay fogs that are projectors and I was very interested in them as I have projector fogs retrofitted on my car. My fogs are so bright i do not need headlights while driving in the dark. It would be nice if the murano could do the same. My question to everyone here is, has anyone had experience with these? Installed a set? Did you like them? How did they fit? if you are unsure of what i am referring to here is a link any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks Dan P.S. yes I have used the search function on google and here and have come up empty handed in regards to my question |

I've looked at those, but I don't see any way they can be quality lights.
A proper fog light beam is described on the Hella lighting site: it is very wide and very flat. Maybe 170 degrees wide and only a couple feet high. It's only good for a couple hundred feet by design. Its purpose is to light up the road in bad weather without reflecting light off the snow/fog/rain back into the driver's eyes. Hella Headlight and Auxiliary Lamp Beam Patterns Their illustration of the pattern is this: ![]() There's another decent illustration of fog lam p patterns here: Beam Patterns - Reference - J.W. Speaker Corporation It appears to me that the round lenses in those lights make it impossible for them to perform as fog lights should. The round lenses in Pontiac and Ram bumper lights drive me nuts - they're blinding and I want to take a hammer and smack them. Lights need two good pieces of design: reflector and lens. If either one is inferior, the light pattern and performance is inferior. I realize that I may be wrong about these particular lights, but I'm open to feedback from anyone who actually owns these lights.

Hi Pilgrim,
Thanks for taking the time and sharing your information. I am not so much worried about the fogs not working properly. Main reason being is because on my speed I have lexus projector fogs and in heavy snow fall or fog were headlights are lethal, I have amazing visibility with my fogs only being on with the parking lights of course. I would assume that the projector fogs on ebay would do the same job as mine. The round lenses you refer to, do you mean the circle inside the housing? If yes then that is the projector and it will have a proper cut off like the oem xenon headlights. I do understand what you mean with the jeeps though and I agree with you because they are brutal. thanks again for taking time to reply. Dan |

The critical aspect of a fog light is a tight cutoff of the light beam so that the beam never extends higher than a point below your windshield. To do that requires a properly designed lens and a properly designed reflector behind it. If you get 'em, let us know whether they fit those criteria.

The retrofitted ones on my speed do miracles. I have high hopes for these ones as when I said I was interested in them.... I meant I had already bought them. I just installed them. To tired to go for a road test and test them out. I also need to buy HID bulbs for the kit I have. Only thing I need though are HID bulbs with a 90 degree angle because the straight ones will not clear the washer fluid bottle on the passenger side.
But on a happy note, I have in deed seen the cutoff and light output and am impressed. Any idea were I could find bulbs with a 90 degree base? |

My appologies on the late reply. I have had some wheel time with the MO in the dark and the fogs are very impressive. I am eagerly awaiting an hid kit which will make the things very enjoyable.
the fogs that were installed are also rather impressive. They also use glass lenses which I was honestly not expecting. Overall happines/lookms and functionality 10/10 Highly recomend to others |

So did you have factory fogs on there before? So this was a complete bolt in, swap? No cutting or anything needed?
Reason im asking is im looking for some fogs to install into a bumper i have with no fogs and this seems to be the cheapest upgrade. Def let us know what HIDs you go with. DDMtuning? |

I did in deed have the factory fogs before hand. They fit with no modification necesary. Only slight problem is the passenger side fog is the fact that with the factory standard bulbnstalled the washer jug does somewhat interfere. Now I tried leaving the bulb out of the housing and test fitted it that way. This worked no problem and since I am putting in an hid kit anyways I did some further tampering because I was unable to find a set of 90degree base bulbs for hid.
A little off topic but good to know about HID retro for the fogs: Fortunately enough I had a 9006 hid bulb still around from my last car and did some experimenting on it. I looked at the base of the bulb and found literally a 2 stage base on it. So I cut one of them right at the very base and that was not a very good idea. Reason being that protective ceramic coating that runs infront of the bulb also goes in the first stage of the base. Also you will be unable to instal the bulb properly. I then cut the 2nd bulb at the 2nd part of the base making sure not to cut the electrical connectors off. Put the piece of plastic that you cut off on a 90 degree angle, epoxy the connection together and viola the bulb fits perfectly in the housing also clearing the washer jug As for the HID kit I am going with I am using a cheap chinese kit which I purchased on eba. I use the same kit in my speed and knock on wood no issues. I know it seems like a ramble on of info but I hope it helps out the next person |

How's that HID kit working with those projector fogs so far on the Murano? Any issues, melted lenses or anything?
Reason i ask is because i just put an 07 front bumper on but didn't come with foglamps so the price seems right on these. You said they just bolt right on into the factory OEM mountings tabs right? And the fact that you can stick a 9006 hid bulb in there is a plus. Would you mind posting a pic of them up close? |

My appologies for replying so late to you.
The projectors are working mint. They survived the 5-6 hour trip from toronto to Quebec without any issues. We have the fogs as DRL's up here in Canada. The passenger side fog was a custom creation because the washer bottle gets quite in the way. I have looked in to ways of attempting to relocate the washer jug however that did not work out. I will be getting some pictures hopefully very soon. I know I have promised them before and no I have not forgot them just my mom drives the truck daily and i drive my speed. I Promise to get those pics for you though |

Note on the note: The government classifies the Murano as a truck. That's how it was referenced on all of the new vehicle paperwork when I bought my 2012. Soooooo...it is indeed a "truck"..
