Question murano roof rack ???

ANYONE GOT THOSE ON HER/HIS MO ???
First of all hello to everyone on this nice forum,

Owner of a MO I'm considering getting this roof racks,
"Nissan Murano New Factory Roof Rack Cross Bar Set
Product No: 999R1-CP000 " I saw on FactoryPartsDirect which is a Nissan dealer store on EBAY;;
My reason for this mainly is because it's OEM & I think of quality but specialy cause it sits flush on the roof and don't wanna put them off, so wind noise on the roof is a concern 4 me...
their main purpose would be for bearing Malibu & surfboards

Anyone got it or saw it in real on a Mo ?

Was considering first a Thule one, live in tahit so need to check before ordering

thanks for any input !

Congrats on your Mo, I am sure my Mo would love to be where your Mo is right now as the temperature is +1C and 15 cms of snow on the ground, ahh spring time in the Rockies.

In regards to the OEM Roof Racks, on Canadian models they are standard and I have never heard a noise from them, however if you use the cross bars ( for a Ski Box, read as small surf boards) and you have a sunroof, you may hear a noise at 90-100 Kmh. just close the moon roof cover and the noise drops off.

I have the crossbars on mine as well, no noise. Of course, if you mount stuff TO the crossbars, that might change things a bit.

We've strapped things directly to the bars before (small sail-boat, home depot runs, etc) and never really had a problem, but if you're going to mount a board rack or something to them and you're planning to leave that attachment on most of the time, that might be a concern.

Default murano roof rack???

Congrats and welcome!

Let me get this straight....you have the "roof rack" and are just looking for the "cross bars"?

If not, you will also need to purchase the actual "roof rack" from Nissan, which IMO is the way to go.

If you don't mine me asking, how much are they asking for the cross rails shipped to you?

hi to all of u,

I'll tell the Mo she's lucky... today's raining here but with 28°c...

thanks Biggun & Corin for all your input, I apreciate any advice & info
so yes I already got the OEM roof rack which was already on mine and lookin for the crossbars for their flush aspect.

The Thule one's are great but I'd like to let the crossbars all time on the Mo, and the seller sells it to me at $160 delivered to my PO BOX in Florida, there someone will send it to me... I know it's not the cheaper way but have not much options...

next upgrade will be a Hidden Hitch but I'm waiting for our next vacations in Cali to meet the family to get heavier stuff back home

I'm also waiting for a final quote from Japan for an INGS bodykit.. know not everyone likes this but his one is the most repectful of the MO's bodyline

thanks again to all this is realy a nice great forum

sean69,

I took mine off about six months after purchasing my MO and they are in like new condition. For me, in the Northeast, they just keep the snow on the roof.

If you are interested, I would be willing to sell them to you and ship to you directly. Email me if you are interested.

rgriff148

not been on Mo.org for a big while for many reason, to answer partly your answer the one your looking for aren't OEM.
I finaly got the black OEM one from Nissan & they fit straight & worked well on the Mo hauling generaly surfboards & longboards.
I say 'worked' cause my wife & I divorced & she kept the Mo

Well that's another story, I'm just seizing the occasion to say a hello to all fellow nissan guys over here cause I'm on my quest for a newer Mo..
cross your fingers

cheers

Default BEWARE Murano roof rails

I have a 2010 Murano that came with the OEM roof rails (part black, part chrome). I put Thule cross bars and cargo box on it for trip. After I got back from the trip, I took off the cargo box and cross bars, and the black part of the roof rails was noticeably bubbled (looks really bad) where the cross bars were. This is NOT a problem with the cross bars, since I used them repeatedly on another vehicle in same conditions without any problems whatsoever. Submitted claim to Nissan for this defect, and they denied it and refuse to fix. Ridiculous, since the roof rails were used as intended and I did nothing to damage them. Anyway, just want others to beware so as not to be stuck with the same problem as me. Last Nissan I'll ever buy. Good riddance to bad rubbish of a company.

Crobi,

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation On one hand, I understand Nissan's position of denying this claim because an after market product was used in conjunction with an OEM part and manufacturers tend to absolve themselves of any responsibility for defects that may occur with said parts. On the other hand, I am disappointed that Nissan did not engineer a product solid enough to handle your rather commonplace parts application

With that said, the cross bar assembly (part # 999R1-CP000) on my Murano has been holding up okay thus far, but your story has made me cautious of what kind of parts I add to the roof rack assembly..

I saw a fellow in classified who had a set he wanted to sell...you might check and see if he still has them for sale. I wouln't write off another Nissan in the future just because of the roof rails.

You must also consider the fact that most any dealership will deny warranty claims whenever possible in order to save money....especially if there's any nexus between the failed part and the use of a non-Nissan part...whether it is logical or not. They are masters in the application of the principle of proximate cause.

I wish I had seen this 2 days ago. I bought my Mo last Saturday and installed my Yakima system to the existing rails. This consisted of the grabbers, crossbars, 2 fork style bike mounts and 2 wheel mounts. I removed the factory crossbars to do this.

The next day, with the system empty, the roof noise was terrible so I removed the system and I also experienced what Crobi reported, though not as severe. I think that my rails also got a little "twisted" in the process.

I've since received my new Inno surfboard system and have attached it to the FACTORY crossbars. Kind of ugly but imho the Inno (and the new Thule) save the roof from dings and scrapes that the usual "straps with pads" would inflict.
