I have a 2006 murano and just recently the fan has been failing to turn on within a few minutes of starting the car. It took over a 20 minutes a few times already, but mostly coming on between 10-20 minutes after the car has been started. I live in Toronto Canada so it is getting colder but the manual said that the fan could fail to come on right away due to the lower temperatures for a max of 150 secs but this is way over and is a concern because I need to be able to defrost the windows to safely be able to drive on the roads. I don't mind being cold for a bit but not being able to see is quite dangerous, especially with winter coming. Please help with this problem if you think you may have a solution. Thank you so much for reading and trying to help me out.

Have you tried turning the fan on manually? Does it come on when you turn the knob or you still have the delay? If still delayed, your HVAC controler maybe faulty. If no delay, the internal temp sensor connector maybe loose or disconnected. Sensor is under the dash right above your right knee.

The MO's HVAC system has a self-diagnostic function. It should be helpful in diagnosing your problem. -njjoe ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Here's a thought. Do you have the AUTO button pressed/illuminated? The fan will NOT run when the engine is cold. Only when the engine starts to warm up will the fan come on and start to warm the cabin to the temperature preset on the screen.

IIRC hitting the defrost button automatically turns the fan on full speed in my 2007. In any other mode, the fan doesn't run until the coolant warms up enough that the system senses that warmth is available.

Hi,
First off, I want to thank other users who posted results on this. Just recently, my blower motor was taking 20-30 minutes to turn on. After taking to my mechanic, they were stumped and I jumped on here to see what the deal was. So, it was the blower resistor fuse. Replaced it for 32 dollars from Advance Auto parts, and 15 minutes of very cold time on a 20 degree day. Tools needed: Phillips Head Screw Driver, 10mm nut driver/socket set. Step 1: Open the fuse panel on the lower left of the panel under the steering wheel. This will identify one of the 2 screws that will need to be removed. The other is way over to the right. Remove both screws Step 2: undo the 2 bolts holding on the hood release with the 10mm Driver. These are over on the Left, a little deeper than the fuse box (toward the pedals) The bolts are positioned facing straight up. Remove these 2 bolts. Step 3. Loosen panel to expose the fuse panel. There are 2 bolts holding on the fuse panel. Loosen these bolts and pull fuse panel to you. The blower resistor fuses are behind the fuses that are visible to you. Step 4. If you are looking at the fuse panel, and tilt it toward you, there are 2 fuses on the back that are identical. If you tilt the fuse panel toward you, the first of the first 2 fuses is the blower resistor fuse. Step 5. Remove that fuse and replace with the new one. Turn on car and test. (In my case, it worked like a charm and the blower turned right on!) Step 6, repeat steps 3, 2, and 1. 200,000 miles on Mike the Murano. Not bad.... __________________

Hi, did You or anyone else have any other issues due this problem? ![]() I have (with my 2007 Murano) same problem PLUS during this fan failure, the speedometer, tachometer and display which shows you the gear (P, R, D, etc.), won`t work. After the fan starts to blow, everything is back to normal! The car is going to the dealer and they will replace in-cabin temp sensor and the heater blower relay. Hopefully these will help. I founded those repair hints in Murano Forum; A/C delayed start for over 5 minutes on 2006 Murano |

The blower motor resistor is a very common malfunctioning part for HVAC systems. I think I've replaced the one in my Maxima three or four times already. With an automatic climate control system, I imagine it would difficult to know it has failed since the fan is automatic - a classic symptom of a bad resistor is that the fan only works on high.
