Default Passenger window rolls up, then halfway down

Have an 05 Murano, about last April it started doing this off and on, now it looks like it's permanent. You click the switch and it rolls the passenger window all the way up, then halfway back down. You can hold the switch and it works, but not if you just click it and let your hand go.

Took it to the dealership and got hosed. Paid the 100 dollar diagnostic fee, figuring it couldn't be more than 200 total to fix it, and the diagnostic 100 would come out of that. Waited for 3 hours, then they told me it would be 650 dollars to replace a little switch. I don't think so.

So, has anyone fixed this on their own. I'd like to remove the door panel and just replace any motor parts if it's not ridiculously expensive or difficult. Any suggestions or links? Thanks!

Well, you'd like to think that the dealership did the following first, before they started saying the issue is bigger then what it is. Try the following and see if it fixes the issue... Yah never know...

If the power window automatic function (closing only) does not operate properly, perform the following procedure to initialize the power window system.

1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Close the door.
3. Open the window more than halfway by
operating the power window switch.
4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to
close the window, and then hold the switch
more than 3 seconds after the window is
closed completely.
5. Release the power window switch. Operate
the window by the automatic function to
confirm the initialization is complete.
6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other
windows.

If the power window automatic function does
not operate properly after performing the procedure
above, have your vehicle checked by a
NISSAN dealer.

If the re-initiation does the trick I would raise holly hell with that Service Dept.. Good chance the re-initiation will fix things. Remember to do each window.

Hey, when this first started.. did you happen to have a dead battery or replaced the battery, disconnected the battery around April when the issue started??

My 350 roadster have the same problem, not sure if the same procedure . What I did is remove the door panel and reset the window motor.... Sometime you need to clean it because of dust that collected from time to time..
Try the other one first if it doesn't work then try to reset the motor...
