Rough Idle

I have an '03 SE 2WD, approx 71K miles 87 - 91 octane gas.

Recently I have experienced 3 - 4 instances where the car seems to stumble at idle. Two of the occassions were when I came down a hill, car relatively on the cool side, and I came to a quick stop. The Murano accelerates fine.

I thought it might be some bad fuel. I've since had a full tank of some "good" gas and I still have experienced it a couple more times.

I don't know if it's my imagination but I've recently also noticed some pinging too.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps clogged fuel injector? I would have someone or yourself pull any codes off the MO.

Getting Codes?

Is that the process where you step on the accelerator pedal so many times, etc, etc?

I remember there was a post for getting the codes, I'll check it out.

thanks for the suggestion.

Yes but it is NOT in the owners manual. You could find stuff here on the forrum or download the service manual from nissanusa.com.

$20 for a 24 hour download and you get get all the files for the manual with a high speed internet connection.

Before I mess around with codes, I'd drop a bottle of high end cleaner and run it through the tank.

Check Engine

Yes, on one occassion the light flashed off & on several times then went off. Acceleration was a bit "stumbly" but then smoothed out right away.

At idle, it stumbles for 2 - 3 times and then goes smooth....

I had been using the 92 octane from Costco when the prices were going down. I've gone back to Chevron, mid to high octane. I've still experienced infrequent stumbling.

thanks all for your responses
