Hi Guys,
This is my first post as I just came across this forum whilst looking online for places to buy a new transfer box from. I live in the UK and am looking everywhere for a second hand replacement transfer box, but these cars are pretty rare over here. Are any of you guys in the States breaking a Murano at all and maybe have a second hand transfer box available? If you have can you please message me on here with a price. I'm not worried about the shipping costs as I can sort that out at this end. Thanks Nick . |

Welcome to the forum & good luck with your hunt. WorldPartsExpress sells the transfer case for $1,488 and they ship internationally. Here's their link: 2006 NISSAN MURANO Parts - World Parts Express, the Online Superstore for All Factory Auto Parts and Accessories.# Good luck. -njjoe

Thanks for the reply Njjoe and also the link.
I have been told by the guy who has stripped my transfer case apart that it is the cogs and teeth inside that has smashed up and that the actual transefr case itself is intact. I spoke to Nissan who said that you can't buy just the internal workings as such. All they gave me was the option of the transfer case itself ( Which I don't need ) or a complete transfer box which they quoted me £4363 which is roughly $6773. I have found a second hand transfer box in the UK which is £978 ($1518.15) delivered. Would you guys say thats a good deal? |

Nick-
CourtesyParts.com lists the gears and internal components on their site. It may be worth a call. 332 Transfer Gear :: Power Train :: Genuine Nissan Parts :: Murano Parts (Z50) 2003-2007 :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com -njjoe

I just had my transfer case resealed as it was leaking. The dealership charged me ~$750 to get to it, do the reseal, etc. There is a way to get to it by removing the front frame cross member from what I'm told.
If you find a used one, or find a kit to rebuild yours, then you should be able to get away from the mechanics for ~$2500. Thinking the price you quoted was probably for a new Nissan part plus the labor to pull the entire motor/CVT and do the replacement.
