Be patient with the relearn procedure. The picture I posted helps a lot as the worded description sucks. You'll have to warm up the engine to normal operating temps before the relearn can be performed.

Don't be surprised if your ECU throws a code when you light up your MO for the first time after the TB is replaced. Mine complained of unusually high RPM, don't remember the code. After I did the relearn, I erased the code with my reader and it never came back.

Don't forget your TB gasket!

I replaced my throttle body and did the relearn procedure but i still get the high RMP revs with the car barley moving. A quick shut off and start again fix the problem. Not sure what now.. But at least i'm getting a new tranny, its at the shop now, code P1778 (step motor Function)

Reporting back, Good news!! Dropped off my car the Monday morning and it was ready by Tuesday afternoon. Picked it up Wednesday morning with a brand new transmission. Its been a week now and so far i've not had the high RPM revving issue and the pick-up and response from the MO is so much better. Thanks to the guys at Hackensack Nissan. And no thanks to the jerks at Medowlands nissan who refused to help me and took my $100 and never attempted to replace my transmission under warranty.

Sounds like you had the "other" failure mode where the RPM's went up and the vehicle barely moved. In my situation, I would press the gas pedal and the RPM's would stay low and the vehicle would barely move. Not surprised the CVT had to be swapped out.

Glad to hear it's resolved!

If you're lucky then you'll only have to do the TB which is about $165 for a rebuilt unit. New could cost significantly more. I had to do the spark plugs, TB, and firewall side valve cover which was over $500. Check original posts for actuals.

I just completed the spark plug and intake manifold gasket change. At 101,855 miles I figured it was time. Dealership wanted $500.00 to do the job.
Thanks to this sticky and this tutorial ( www.greghome.com/Greg%27s%20Garage/2002MaxSE/SparkPlugReplacement.htm ) I saved a bundle.
The job took me a total of about 6 hours, taking my time. Started last night de-assembly (4hrs). Stupid little things held me up like a stripped-out allen bolt on the top cover and some stubborn hose clamps/stuck hoses. This morning I completed the job in 2 hours. Removing and replacing the plugs was a breeze. Putting on the new gasket and replacing the intake went surprisingly smooth. Re-attaching the hoses and clamps was slick. Replacement of the back cover and windsheild wiper assembly went well. Took it for a spin around the block and it feels like it got its spunk back!!
On to the brake pads....

This rocks! A year later, I am looking at the same situation. Unfortunately, it looks a bit beyond my skill set and will be a nice payday for Nissan. Regardless, this gives me an idea of what I should be looking at. I appreciate your maticulous effort and documentation of the process. Outstanding.

No problem. My pleasure.

One thing I still need to do is clean up the grounds under the dash. Since the TB change in my MO, I have experienced the socalled hesitation since the TB exchange but the frequency has gone down exponentially. Something for me to do when I have nothing better to do.

There is also an engine ground on the passenger side of the hood compartment, which can be cleaned off too.

Yep. The grounds are everywhere.

You'd have to look at the Service Manual to see what each ground services. There's a table somewhere. If I find it I'll post it.

I'm going to change the throttle body out. I will do the Accelerator position learn and the Throttle valve closed position sensor learn procedure you provided. Is there another procedure I need to do for Idle Air volume learning?? or is this a part of the two learns?

Check out the pictures in post number 4 first page. It has both the accelerator and valve learning as well as the idle relearn procedure. You absolutely must do the idle relearn procedure after you've swapped out the TB. Be aware that your MO might throw a code after you fire up the motor with the new TB. Mine did, complained of unusually high RPM's or something like that. After I did the relearns I cleared the code and it never came back. I have a scanner for my car so I was able to clear the codes on my own. Good luck! If the TB is the only thing you're swapping out, shouldn't take you but a couple of hours because you don't have to dig down as far like I did for the spark plug rework.

Taking a look at this, i see no reason why someone need to take off the wiper assembly but to give a little extra clearance to get to the bracket/ mount in back. If someone really has the right tools and know how to squeeze in there, should be a breeze to get it done without taking that whole process.

If you're going after the TB only then you're 100% correct. However, if at the same time you need to go after the spark plugs or the rear valve cover, then you will need to remove the wipers and cross assembly.
