So what do you do with that extra 1/2 qt?
I find that I will buy 5qts and filter of what ever the best sale AZ or Oriely is having (Mobil1, Castrol Titanium, etc..) but after puting 4.5qts in, I am left with a bunch of 1/2 filled bottles of different brands.

How often should I change the Mobil 1 oil in my car. I don't put a lot of mileage on it, about 7,500 miles a year. Strictly go by miles or months? Thanks

You can safely mix it in with the next oil change. Your car will not know the difference and as long as the oil meets the latest API guidelines, it can be safely mixed with another API approved oil.

Even better, start re-tracing your steps and work your way back through the bottles you have. But seriously, it's not that hard to pick a brand and stick with it. If you want to use the same brand twice in a row, it's not hard to watch for sales and buy ahead of the need. I find that my Murano takes 5 qts with filter, so I don't have a problem, but I never mind having an extra half-quart sitting around.

As I have alsways understood the politics. The Government allows the use of "Fully Synthetic" when it is not.
Look at the labels and you will see both "Fully" and "100%". "Fully Synthetic"....well it is not. "100% Synthetic".....it is. |

And when it comes down to it, just pick the kind of oil you like and use it. If the manufacturer recommends synthetic, then fer heaven's sake use a major brand oil labeled as synthetic!
What matters MOST is changing it at correct intervals, not what percentage of it is synthetic. Your car doesn't care whether the label says fully synthetic or 100% synthetic. It's good oil. Run it and change it and the filter when you should. And I'm a big advocate of using synthetic oils - I started doing so in 1977, well before most of the motoring public knew that synthetic oils existed. All major brands of motor oil today are light years ahead of the formulations 30 years ago. Synthetic oils are even better.

Fully synthetic or not so fully synthetic?

Mobil 1 is a very good choice of oil. Mobil 1 is not a synthetic blend (semi-synthetic). It is full synthetic. You really could save $ though if you just get Mobil 1 and not the Extended Performance Mobil 1. Best place to but Mobil 1 is Walmart. Buy it in the 5 quart jug. Cost about $25, with tax about $28.

Yup. I filled up mine with the extended performance. The price difference between the two was just $1.5, so thought why not the EP one ($26.97).
I had this discussion with the guys as my first post here. So they advised on walmart. And i think i got mine at 29.xx dollars! |

Mobil 1 M1-110 is indeed a good filter. Next time, consider going with the far less expensive but excellent, WIX 51358 or Napa Gold 1358 and save yourself $. Mobil 1 oil filter is very pricey.
