Default Just got my Metra Dash Kit for '03 - '08 MO

Last tuesday MuranoGeek who is an electronics engineer, Hooked me up with a brand new dash kit by Metra to get beta tested. I went to his work that day and met him and I got to see where they build boards for the dash kit for Metra. He installed my Pioneer Avic-N3 to the new dash kit. I'm really impressed on how aesthetically nice the rubber buttons and lay-out they did for this dash kit and the nice LED lighting it has. Every control on the dash assembly works for the onboard car diagnostics, the A/C and heat controls work real great too. We just came across a problem with the steering wheel remote that wouldn't communicate with my radio. They are going to research it more with the kind of radio deck I have. Other than that everything works like a charm. I'll probably be changing my desk to a Pioneer Z1 and hopefully it won't do it with that.

Anyway, I'm really stoked now that I have a different radio deck and I have my GPS again! And not the stock crappy one. Now I can adjust the Lows, Mids and Highs Frequency through the built-in EQ my Avic-N3 comes with is awesome and the stock speakers have improved significantly! The tweeters can be heard with a really nice clear highs. The stock sub-woofer in the spare tire has more base! It improved the speakers clarity by 50%. I was planning to change out the speakers before because I thought they were crappy and it wasn't performing well because of the bose crappy radio. Now i'll stick with the stock speakers coz they're sounding a lot nicer and clearer now with the Pioneer I installed.

Thanks a lot to Metra for finally building this wonderful product and getting us Murano owners out of the stone age with having just the stock radio unit. Now we can upgrade our MO's and add our own touch to our rides sound system.

Here are some pics of my MO's dash.

Now for the critical part.....what is something like this going to cost? It looks nicely designed although the beta test procedures will raise certain issues about the placement and functionality of the various switches etc....but overall it looks well made.

You mentioned the crappy Bose system....do you have the stock system or the upgraded one that you've replaced? It sounds like the speakers are suitable but it was the equalizer or bass/treble adjustments that didn't allow the speakers to perform at optimum levels? Additionally, I don't know who picked the voice for the GPS but there are two voices....the main one for the major routes is fine, but that secondary one for the surface streets sounds like some gal who's been smoking for 40 years and has a bad case of bronchitis.

price is a huge factor here, if it costs almost as much as the headunit i want to install...then that might be a lil ridiculous, but i highly doubt it being in the same price range as there normal dash install kits which usually run about ~30 bucks...i just wanna see a price!

Keep in mind this is not just a plastic sleeve that you typically use to install an after market radio. This has a circuit board, touch pad, and has a very nice finish. You see I already have a Nav system that I used in my old truck and I kept it, and now I can finally install it in my MO! Instead of buying an OEM Nav that could probably cost me about $1000.

That's a great looking install. I have a Pioneer DDIN sitting in my garage waiting to go into my Mo!

Did you hear any whispers about when we might be able to buy this kit? price?

Very nice install. It would be nice if the steering wheel controls still worked instead of having them there just being dummy buttons but im sure they're working on that.

Can't wait to install my Kenwood!

Wow very slick!!!! Can't wait to get it.

That's pretty cool the steering wheel control. So the kit is coming with the ability to have the steering wheel control control our decks! Thats awesome. I had been looking at buying a interface separately when the kit is available for purchase. That's a option for us all. If the metra kit interface has difficultly controlling whatever deck, PAC makes aftermarket interfaces that could bypass the metra one and u get the best of both worlds.

Your in luck coz the steering wheel controls still work if your radio has a remote input/plug.

It should be out in the market next month (Febuary). I think it going for $150 - $250. I'm not sure about the price.

Default Question about the OEM screen

I can see from the install pics that the OEM color screen still shows the Fuel Economy screen. So does everything except the Radio/CD/Tape functions still show on the color screen, with the Pioneer GPS installed? If so, that is so freaking cool...
