It's about frickin' time that Washington passed the no cell phone law. I've been hoping for it for a LONG time. I can't believe how many times I almost get hit just on my way to and from work, and nearly EVERY time it's because some idiot has a phone glued to their head, not even noticing how close they came to running someone (namely me) off the road.

The only downside to passing such a law is that then people think it's actually safer to actually use a hands-free set.

When are people going to realize that they don't have to spend every waking moment on the damn phone? Try paying attention to your driving for once.

Virtually every study ever conducted shows that seat belts reduce the risk of fatal or serious injury by 40 to 55%. Why would someone in their right mind not buckle-up?

In 2000, approximately 9,200 deaths could have been avoided if the victims had been wearing their seatbelt. That is over 9,000 mothers or fathers, sons or daughters, husbands or wives, grandparents, and friends that would be alive today if they had only performed the simple act of buckling their seatbelt. Why would anyone in their right mind want to put their loved ones through all that anguish?

Yesterday I read in the paper about several idiots who were complaining that they just received $46 tickets for not wearing their seatbelt. I wonder how many of the 9,000 annual highway fatalities would gladly pay $46 for a second chance to buckle-up.

Yeah, but he is a self-made millionaire and a politician so I guess he believed both the laws of the land and Newton's laws did not apply to him. Boy, did he learn the hard way that he was wrong.
