Default VQ35DE Aftermarket Parts

So I was looking to see what kind of engine (exact model) was in the Mo, turns out it is the VQ35DE, the same engine in the 350Z. Now, my question is, can't we just take the a turbo kit made for the Z and throw it on the Mo?

Thanks

Any kit made for a specific car will more then likely not work for another car; even if it has the same engine. The layout of key components under the hood are completely different between the Z and the MO. Key difference: the Z doesn't have a CVT.

Nissan in Japan has taken the MO and put a twin trubo system on it and called it the Murano GT-C I think. So it can be done. If you were to do it, you should probably do it right and replace the rings, upgrade the cooling system, reprogram the ECU, change timing, etc.

If you have the balls to do it, I'd love to see your results. I think that 350hp is possible if you do it right. But...it will cost you lots of money to make it happen.

The GT-C was a one-off vehicle that was paraded in front of the press to enhance sales of the MO. In my opinion it was more of a marketing gimmick than a proof-of-concept effort.

Routing an additional 100+ horsepower through the CVT will adversely affect it's longevity.

My best friends brother owns a shop in NYC. I might go down there and bend some tubes to try to get a turbo in there. Your right, i dont think the CVT can handle it, but we shall see what options i have.

You really have no options, unless you swap out the CVT with something else. Manual 6 speed murano?

Someone at nissan school had told me there were Muranos in europe or somewhere else i can't recall, with manual transaxles. I was gonna find out more info but haven't really looked into it.

In my opinion the VQ in the murano is severely detuned possibly because of the cvt. Drive any maxima or altima 3.5 and youll notice a difference. Even a quest feels alot faster. Turbocharging a murano would be cool but i think your biggest bottleneck is the murano's ecm tune. And cvt.
