Default Injen intake installed!

Sorry no pix as of yet, but I will post some a little later tonight (going to a Warriors game right now).

The only thing that sucks about the install is removing that bottom piece of the OEM intake. Forgot what its called...

I'll update this post later, just felt the need to share the news

Any noticeable difference in engine sound or performance? I think I'm just going to do the regular k&N filter since I can't do any installs myself :-)

Definate difference in sound in both SRI and with the cold air extension. IMO, its a good difference

As far as performance goes... Im not to sure, but I *think* it picks up faster from a stop while the intake is in short ram mode, and when I have the cold air extension on I can feel a lil extra ~umph~ while I have the pedal fully depressed on the freeway.

That thing that was a pain to remove:

Also started painting the calipers black... and I wish I never started cause taking off the rims are nerve racking!

Just remember that anyone can gin up some piece of shiny tubing and call it "Ram Air". That doesn't mean it's actually designed to work well, or to provide any benefit other than making your pocket lighter. Before you spend $100 or even $50 for any intake mod, do your online homework, check reviews and preferably tests done by sources you can trust.

I'm not saying the one linked above has no benefits - I'm just saying that it is wise to do homework before buying. There's a LOT of "snake oil" sold in the form of intake and exhaust gew-gaws that have no benefit.

One thing to keep in mind when painting brake components. You might also want to paint the surfaces of your rotors; i.e. the parts that don't rub on the pads. Here in NM, the center and outside surfaces of the rotors rust very quickly. Painting those surfaces will help keep that rust ring off of the rotors and keep everything behind those nice BOSS rims looking clean.

Very cool you got the intake done!

I just got done installing the INJEN air intake system yesterday. I definitely feel quicker acceleration and I love the "whawww" when you kick it. I have installed the complete system with both pieces. It took a couple of us a couple of hours because we had to remove part of the fender liner to get at things. When removing the bottom housing (shown in the picture earlier) be careful in that the wiring harness for the driving light is attached to it.
I bought my unit thru AMSOIL and paid about $250 for it. I have used cheap "ram air' systems on other vehicles but this one truly is engineered for this vehicle
I have a 2004 SL AWD

So...performance enhancements? Improved MPG? What exactly does this intake kit do for you?

this is also my concern/question as well. not so much the quicker acceleration, because that's a given, but is there any uptick in MPG??

I keep forgetting to check what it says for MPG in my gf's MO, but from I remember it would say something like 16-19 mpg and thats without the cold air extension. I'll check later on tonight when I get off work... if I remember ;P

Try a 100 mile road trip at fairly consistent speeds and you'll know something about gas mileage. General driving doesn't prove much. 16-19 is typical of stop and go, in town mileage.
