There has been some mention recently about power and fuel economy improvements for the FY 2012 model.
Does anyone have any insight to share? Any chance the Murano will get DI? The 7-speed in place of the CVT? When can we expect to see 2012's in the show room? Thanks, Peter |

DI? Nope. 7speed? Nope, Nissan is fully vested in CVTs. 2012's appear in the fall of 2011 usually. Seeing how the new Quest will have 3.5L 255hp, it doesn't look like Nissan will be rolling out DI for their V6 line anytime soon. If anything, I would not be surprised to see 2.5L I4 versions of the Quest and Murano (following the trend of Toyota putting 4-cyl in their minivans and crossovers). DI would appear in Infiniti first (as it already has in the new 5.6L in the M56).

Probably not next year. Nissan is marketing a lithium ion hybrid M37h next year, that battery technology might migrate over to another hybrid Altima (and maybe at some point a hybrid Rogue or Murano). Nissan of course has the Leaf 100% electric vehicle.

The Murano is already available in some markets with the 2.5 4 Cyl., as I have all the details of the engine in my operators manual.
The 2.5 dCi is a great engine, but yet not available in American or South Pacific markets. Diesel is much more efficient than Hybrid, but some people just don't like them. (Peugeot actually now combines Diesl and Hybrid, fantastic concept). Nissan needs to separate between Infinity and Nissan, otherwise peole would buy a Murano instead of EX/FX. Therefore I can't see the 3.7 V6, Di or Hybrid in the Murano any time soon. But just my opinion... |

Since the Murano just had a refresh for 2011, I doubt the 2012 model will be any different. For 2013 perhaps (If the world doesn't end by then heheh) we'll most likely see the 4 cyl version because gas prices will again go up..Diesel, now that's another question. Direct injection, maybe. Probably the AWD from the JUKE will be implimented on the MO's powertrain as we all know the transfer case on the MO is its weakness....both 1st and 2nd Gen.
