Personally I have never been impressed with the MO's fuel consumption. Always seems just OK in my book. Just last week I was on a business trip in the States where I racked up 414 miles on a Monte Carlo. Driving just like I would in my Mo. Highway miles are always on cruise control at 7 mph over the limit so this put me at 72 in most cases. I think what surprised me was the 14.8 gallons I put in when I brought her back to the rental counter. So much so, i did the math and had managed 33.7 mpg. I checked the epa ratings for the car and it shows 31 highway. 414 miles was my only fuel fill and I still had 1/8+ tank showing on the gauge. Unless I try to the point of frustration with the Mo I cannot even get epa highway mileage out of her. That's darn good milage on the Monte Carlo with noy even trying. Would never buy one though.

this comparison is not fair. MonteCarlo is a sedan and as such has much smaller cross-section. Just to put your MC in perspective - I recently drove a station wagon (yes! they still exists!) at speeds of 100 mph (no, not in USA) and was getting fuel economy 6 - 8 l/100ks.....how your MC compares to it?

Of course it's not a fair comparison. Point was, I drove it like I drive the Murano with no attempt at all to get good fuel milage. Yet I managed higher milage than epa states for this car on highway miles although I would estimate about 20% of that drive was city. Even if I tried everything, short of back drafting a big rig on the autoroute, I could never mangage to get epa figures (never mind exceeding them) out of the Murano. In reality, if the epa figures for the Monte Carlo were up in the 35 mpg range, I would not have posted this. Get my point? Kinda like the Prius which is supposed to get 60 but nobody seems to be able to do more than 55 in full out attempts at getting it.

Due to the hike price of the fuel it is require that to increase the mileage. I have read tips about the mileage. It is really nice and interesting to increase the mileage of the car. I am really appreciated about your valuable knowledge.

New to our Murano. Fuel economy on a 100km trip yesterday was 8.6 litres per 100kms and that converts to 27.35 MPG and around town 9.6 litres per 100kms and converts to 24.5 mpg. Is that good or bad as far as our new Mo goes ?

It depends. Gallon - British or American?

Default 2010 Mileage

Just took my new Murano on its first road trip. From Corpus Christi to San Antonio and was pleased with my mileage. On the way up I average around 26 mpg and on the way back around 28 mpg. To be honest though I am not exactly a lead foot and so I drive pretty conservatively. Since my last vehicle was a Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a pleasant change.

As of Jan 3rd 2012, I'm now a proud owner of a 2010 Murano S AWD (from a GMC Acadia with a 125k dying transmission).

Currently I'm averaging 24mpg, 40mph, on mixed commuting - city, slow/stop-and-go, highway. With an average 84 miles daily Mon-Fri

I have one question about gas mileage. When I bought the vehicle, the dealer filled it up with 87 octane, and I did a second fill-up with 89 and still 24mpg.

Will I get even better gas-mileage if I use 93 octane?

I know it's more expensive, but since I only need to fill-up once a week now (was two with the GMC), I can easily afford it.

*PS: The best I ever got out of the Acadia was a 18.5mog average.
