Hey everyone!
My wife and I just picked up a 2006 Murano and are looking to get new wheels and tires. I've seen a few Muranos around with 20" wheels and 275/45 tires and really like how they look. My question is, what wheel width would look best with that size tire? I don't like the stretched look, nor do I like sidewall bulge. I would like the sidewall to be flush with the wheel if that makes sense? I've tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything specific. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

That tire size requires a wheel width of 8.5" to 10.5". Unless you live in a land of no curbs, I would highly recommend some "bulge" to protect those shiny new wheels. For comparison, an Infiniti FX35 comes with an 8.0" width OEM wheel and 265/50-20 tires. Many owners go up a size and stay with the OEM wheel width. My OEM LE wheels are 7.5" wide and I couldn't wait to get rid of those 235/55-20 tires, for it was impossible to keep the wheels in pristine condition. Going up to a 255/50-20 tire was the perfect match for protection and looks. I even like the 265/50-20 snow tires that I mount on the stock wheels. 9.5" would probably be a good width for the tire size you are looking at tire, giving it some protection from accidental curb rash. Hope this helps and take care!

Thanks Jim! I can't believe I didn't factor in the possibility of curb rash, especially with my wife haha.
I found the wheels I want, the only widths they come in though are 8.5 and 10. I was originally looking at a 275/45-20 tire and 20x9.5 wheel, but it doesn't look like that's gonna be happening with this specific wheel. The next size up would be a 285/45-20 tire and 20x10 wheel, to me that seems pretty wide, although it's only about a half inch bigger overall. Will that size even fit? |

If I was you, I would purchase the 8.5" wide wheel and stick to 265/50-20 tires. They should look good and still give some rim protection. I have this size for my snow tires and they look really good on the car, but they do require a certain amount of "muscle" with the steering wheel. Also, make sure you get that size of tire RoadForce balanced (wheel & tire matched). Hope this helps and take care!
