I was about to order the Yokohama parada spec x, until my guy at the garage said they are loud and not recommended for a murano, he suggested i go with bridgestone duelers instead.
ive been browsing, researching, everywhere online and instores, 1 place tells me to go with the Pirelli Scorpions, another place said Continental ( but they dont last long ) All i want is a QUIET tire, my car was never quiet even when brand new the OEM eagles sucked to begin with. Can anyone suggest a tire that is both decent and QUIET? i thought after reading the reviews my best BET woudlve been the paradas!!! PS i live in the northeast, and we get horrible snow,,, so im looking for a good all season QUIET tire that wont ruin my pockets! thanks

You should take two 5mg valium tablets, chase them down with a shot of some really good brandy, then just go buy some tires. You're going to get all sorts of differing opinions here. It's like being a kid in a candy store...I'll try that one, noooo, better this one...on the other hand, maybe this one, but then there's that one.
A number of us have gone to the Parada Spec-X in the 255/series (20 inch wheels on the LE)...a little wider tread that puts more "beef" on the road and for most of us, a great performing tire. I haven't heard any complaints yet...there may be some, but I havent' heard anyone on the forum go negative. Some folks report a little noise, others say no noise at all. I've run my Paradas for over 1000 miles now, and have no complaints. I did the research and went thru the kid-in-the-candy-store routine too.....then took the leap. You'll find that you've made up your mind then you'll get ONE dissenting voice, and you suddenly become unsure again. I was all set to buy a Buick Enclave...then ended up in a Murano....go figure. The problem becomes one of credibility and comfort...who do you believe when you don't know anyone you're talking to on the forum....how do you get to the point where you feel comfortable? Who is more believeable than someone else? I went by numbers...the folks whose numbers for "yea" outnumbered the others who had other preferences. Final opinion? I am happy with the Paradas....they replaced the Michelins tht were on there in the 235 series, and I run them with 36-38 psi. I feel the road a little more, but I like that, and it gives me good performance, and no tread noise for the first 1000 miles. That's the best advice I can give you....and I'm just one voice in a chorus of others...some singing a different tune. Best of luck in your quest.........chuck

KASIA: I didn't read your post closely enough....one of your criteria was snow...I've heard, but have never personally tested.....that the Parada's are not that good in the deep snow. They're great in rain, and a couple inches of snow, but if you're talking about deep snow, then I dont' know of any all season tire that's good for all seasons. If you have a lot of snow, you need to get some sort of snow tire or studded tire for the bad times, then switch when the weather becomes more stable. I don't know what your weather is like where you are, but that's a big factor in selecting a tire. There's plenty of room in the wheel well to chain up if you're using the OEM tires...but if you have an AWD vehicle, then you need to talk to someone versed in chaining up an AWD....never done it myself so I don't know the answer. No snow in the central Califonria valley...unless you go up to the mountains.

Your guy at the garage might be recommending the Bridgestones because they are one of the tires that Nissan installs as stock on the Murano. Or maybe they cost a bit more than the Yokohamas.
You always have to read reviews with a grain of salt. I tend to trust the 3 and 4 star reviews a bit more, and certainly the reviews that have a balance of pros/cons. Most importantly, find reviews for vehicles that are similar to the Murano (size, weight, style). For instance, a review of the Yokos on Infiniti FX, Acura MDX, BMW X5, etc. would be for vehicles with similar characteristics. Reviews for sedans, trucks or large SUVs would not be comparable. |

Good for snow usually spells louder road noise on dry road. You have to compromise between better traction and comfort--road noise. You can usually tell by the treads of the tire if it will louder. The closer it looks to a snow tire the louder it will be.

Good info nitely....I forgot about that fact....my truck had the mud and snow tires on it...the type with what they call the "aggressive pattern" and the highway whine drove me nuts...I finally changed over to a highway tire and eliminated all the noise.
Unfortunately, as you and others have so correctly pointed out, there is no compromise. That's why some of the folks here have two sets...one for the winter months, and one for summer driving. Here in Calif....we pretty much have one season unless you either live above 3500 feet or want to go skiing...so I never thought of the tread pattern issue....but I am very picky about the highway noise. When I bought the MO...I was vascillating back and forth between the MO and the Buick Enclave, and one of the main criteria was how quiet it was inside when driving at freeway speeds...so tire noise/wind noise entered into that equation.

I have the Bridgestones on my 2011 and they are very quiet. I've only have the car since the middle/end of march so I can't speak yet about snow traction. I can tell you that they're good in the rain but the tread looks more like a quiet touring tire rather than one made for snow...although it is an all season. Sorry to further confuse your situation..lol. I'm a Yokahama guy myself and have used their Avid series on a few difference vehicles and loved them but not on an suv.

I got my 07 Murano with brand new Firestone Destination LE tires on it - so that's what I run. So far they've been fine in snow through one winter, and I've made a couple of 2,000 mile trips on them. NO complaints about noise - a very reasonable tire. Don't know that I would have chosen Firestones is I'd have had a choice, but they've been fine for 20K miles.

which bridgestone is on it? if its the ht 587 dueler THEN DO NOT GET THAT TIRE. that has to be the worst tire ive ever seen
tires i narrowed it down to: GY triple tred: great for all round performance (they have the snow symbol), but get you road noise and less mpg Cooper CS4 touring: very underrated tire, good in snow. if you read the boards, you'll see some who have these tires in the snow area and it does fine i got the former b/c i got a great deal |
